They sat in a comfortable silence for a while, enjoying being alone together with no need to talk. It was better that way, it meant that neither of them would bring up something that could ruin the pleasant atmosphere between them.
“How’s your book going?”
Elizabeth was surprised that he spoke, and surprised that he asked about that in particular. She didn’t realise he had paid any attention to what she was doing while he was tending to his sister.
“It’s done. I asked them to hold off on releasing it for a few months and thankfully they agreed. It’s financial on their end – they want to try and sell the exclusive rights to adapt it. I think I did a good job finishing the story believably.”
