Seonnyre was slammed against the back wall with a loud thud, causing her to fall down with a pain-filled sob. A dark brown figure had her pinned down by the neck, pushing all of his weight down.
"No!" Tirsynthe shouted as she "attacked" him, which he just shoved into Caverne with very little effort.
"We'll take this nice and slow, grenaryiane, and you'll walk away unharmed." He held his venomous barb next to her face.
Seonnyre tensed and relieved her body, trying to loosen his grip. As she clawed at his chest, he pinned her wings down. She tightly held his talons in hers, feeling light headed.
"I just need some answers. Starting with this: where Seonnyre is."
She took in a few raspy, shallow breaths.
"Argonne, Argonne. It's me."
"Okay, grenaryiane, nice one, trying to pull a fast one on me." Seonnyre held his talons firmly, her eyes scrunched shut as he dug his talons into her wing. Tirsynthe could tell she was in pain. "I promise. It's me, it's me." Blurry spots danced in her vision. The faint outline of his mark grew distinct just above her shoulder. Argonne was crushed. It really was his partner, and he almost suffocated her. Seonnyre rolled on her side taking deep breaths, coughing. At least she could breathe again. Didn't help how much pain she was in.
He stroked her shoulders and lower back.
"Gosh, Seonnyre, I'm sorry, could barely recognize you."
She chuckled. "Not sure if I should take that as a compliment, or -"
"Believe me, that's a compliment. You've got some of your strength back."
He chuckled as he pulled her into a firm hug, causing her to wince." Easy, easy, still kind of banged up from the last mission."
"Last mission? How many missions have you been on?"
Seonnyre fell silent for a second. "Eight."
Argonne shook his head. "Twelve. "
"Twelve?! What did you accomplish in twelve missions? "
She shrugged nonchalantly. "Doesn't really matter. "
"You don't remember, do you?"
She awkwardly cleared her throat. "As I said, doesn't matter. "
She forgot. Tirsynthe and Caverne thought simultaneously with a soft chuckle.
"So, when can I go home, not that this hasn't been fun." Tirsynthe whined.
Argonne looked at Seonnyre, worried. He didn't think she could make it. "Think you can make it?"
"Course I can. Come on." She got up on shaky talons, with a wince. She scrunched her eyes shut as a sharp pain ran through her body. Seonnyre took in a sharp breath.
"Yeah, let's go, before I fall down."
"That's not funny, Seonnyre."
"I thought it was. "
Argonne looked at her in a disapproving way. "I don't like this."
"You don't like anything anymore. " She snapped.
That was weird, how Seonnyre got agitated. What else was weird: Tirsynthe could see colors, not just outer colors, but on the inside. Cave was all blue, while Seonnyre was mainly orange.
She chuckled to herself. "Cave, why are you so blue?"
"Excuse me?" She locked eyes with her, looking insulted.
"Um, Tirsynthe. She's black, not blue. "
"Not what I can see. She is blue, Seonnyre's orange. Why is that?"
Argonne
He looked into Seonnyre's sharp blue eyes, studying them for a little bit. She was hurting, had been for a while, from what he could tell. He wished she had told him sooner that she was in pain. They could've rested for a few days.
"I didn't want to slow you down." She spoke softly, so no one else could hear her.
Argonne pulled her into a hug, with a sigh.
"Argonne, why is she orange?"
"Uh, just, she's just a lot warmer than Cave, that's all. "
Nice save. Caverne nodded slightly.
