Caverne shifted sleepily. Seonnyre and Tirsynthe may have slept well, but it was the same restless nights she's had for years on end. Most dragons would be easy with her, and it was the one thing she HATED. She didn't need other dragon's sympathy, let alone a grenaryiane's. Fragile, naive, sensitive, and so dang freaking useless. She heard her sister's voice echo in her mind.
Fissure never sugar coated anything, to any one. Not even to her six month old sister. Their mother often scolded her on that.
"Don't poison the minds of our children, Fissure, blah, blah, blah, blah." Caverne wished she was still here, but she was killed in that accident. Not that it was an accident, more like homicide. The sad part was, she did survive, but she was unrecognizable. The healers said she too far gone for them to work with. Caverne didn't find comfort in that. In her mind, they barely tried, not hard enough. She was alive, even awake and responsive, but obliterated on the inside. Said she only had a couple of days left, but she surprised them all by lasting almost a week. Her health going downhill on day three. Made Caverne hurt more, knowing she had just a little while longer, but f*******n to visit. She could've been there when she passed away, but no one was. She passed away, alone. That's not what she would've wanted, at least that's what she thought. Caverne and Fissure never could've grown further apart in the last few years. Fissure was severely against the fact she'd become an assassin.
"I didn't want you to be a guard either!"
"Tough luck. Someone had to take care of you since they weren't!" She flicked a wing at their mother and father.
"Oh, save it! They did the best they could!"
Fissure scoffed, muttering underneath her breath. "If only you knew."
"Why do you have to be so arrogant?! "
"Why do you have to be so stupid?!" Fissure snapped.
"Guys, stop it!" Their father shouted. "Go to your room, Caverne!"
She stormed off, slamming the door behind her.
He grumbled. "How many times do I have to tell you-"
"Tell me what? Protect her from the world? And for what?!"
"Peace of mind."
"What's left of it." Fissure shouted. "You're only trying to keep her from living her life. You don't need to ruin her life, knowing you have wasted yours."
"FISSURE!" Her mother screamed.
"What?!"
"Stop wasting your life worrying about ours and the life we created. Focus on your life. Clearly, you make your own decisions. Do me, do us a favor, get out. See if we let you come crawling back this time."
