Stephan wasn’t gone long before he came back to where he left me.
“Everything ok?” I asked when I noticed he wouldn’t look at me.
“Yeah, yeah. Everything is ok. You ready?” He said all this while he looked anywhere but me. Then when he asked his question he looked directly at me.
“Ready for what exactly?” I asked as I noticed his heightened interest in his shoes. He didn’t answer, just kept his head down. I walked to him and put my hands on his cheeks and forced his head up so that our eyes could meet.
I gasped and quickly removed my hands as I felt an immense heat and a tingling sensation where my hands had touched him. I looked at my hands and then at him. His eyes were widened and his eye color danced like before.
I looked down at my hands once more before reaching up and touching the back of my hand to his cheek. Again I felt the heat and tingling. I moved my hand to his forehead and got the same feeling.
“You ok? You sick or something?” I asked him. He still stared at me with wide eyes. “Stephan?”
He just stared at me for awhile before his eyes finally settled on his hazelnut color. He hesitantly reached his hand out and touched my cheek. He brushed his fingers across my face and I could feel the same sensation from when I touched him. Maybe I’m sick too?
“Well, what do we have here?” Asked a voice behind Stephan. Stephan jumped a little before his body stiffened. I removed his frozen hands from my face and peeked behind him. A man, not much older than Stephan, was standing there. He didn’t have a guards uniform, but his attire was that of a noble. What was old was he wasn’t wearing any shoes.
He waved at me after I finished my examination of him and I slightly waved back. I moved behind Stephan to avoid looking at this no-shoe noble.
“Hey, do you know who that is, it’s a man with no shoes?” I whispered to Stephan who hadn't moved. I waved my hand in front of his face, but he didn’t react. I poked him on the stomach and still nothing. I reached up and pinched his cheek until it was red and still he just stared.
I returned to the side of Stephan to talk to the man. “Umm hello. He’s not feeling too well since this morning is there somewhere I can take him?” I asked him.
The no-show noble slightly tilted his head and asked, “Sick? What kind of sick?”
“Well, I think he is a little feverish and maybe in pain since he doesn’t want to move.” I responded.
“Oh ok. Why don’t you go through that door and get some water for him. That might help him a little.” The no-shoe noble said as he pointed to the door Stephan had entered before.
I looked back at Stephan trying to see a hint of reaction, but nothing. I made my way through the doors and was hit by the sweetest scent I have ever smelt. I wasn’t sure what I was but it was delicious. I looked around and saw no one. Someone must be making something to produce that scent so I followed it. It led me to a large metal box glowing a bright orange. There was a small window that showed some brown and black globs on a gray plate. I could feel the heat from the metal box so I didn’t dare touch it.
Not much later did a large woman come into view. “Thief! Get away from the oven!” Then she started to run towards me. I quickly ran out of there and through the doors to where Stephan and the no-show noble was. They both stayed in the same spots. I ran in front of Stephan and used him to hide from the vicious lady.
So after I was hidden did the doors fly open again. “Where is that thief?” I stayed hidden and looked up at Stephan who had his eyes pure red.
“Xavier, help.” I whispered.
Xavier looked at me with his blood red eyes and gave me a smirk before he turned around and let out a loud growl towards the two strangers. He has his arms out on his side and slightly crouched. He was ready to attack. I looked down at his hands expecting fists, but instead he had opened hands. Looking more closely, he had grown claws and they looked sharp.
“Now, now, we don’t want any trouble. You better stand down.” Said the no-shoe noble.
“Now honey, there’s no need to be aggressive. Just calm-“ said the lady. She was interrupted by Xavier’s growl.
