Miss Bertha

Xavier POV: I woke up early. I didn't intend to since I fell asleep late last night. I reluctantly got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. I lit a small candle and stared at myself in the mirror. Xavier. You will not have control until I say so. Xavier growled, but allowed me my request. I washed my face then made my way back into the room. I looked at the damsel laying on my bed. She was perfect in every way. Beautiful in every way. I caught myself smiling at her. I walked to the dresser and grabbed a change of clothing. I entered the bathroom once more to change. I changed out of the clothes from last night and stood unclothes for a moment. It felt more natural this way. I always felt uncomfortable with the clothing I had to wear. Usually I wouldn't wear anything, but since she was in the room I had to cover up. I changed into the clothing I had picked out and made my way out of the bathroom and out into the hallway. I walked to the kitchen in search for one of the morning cooks. "Good morning Miss Bertha." A said when I found the person I was looking for. "Well, good morning young sir, to what do I owe the pleasure of you visiting me so early in the morning?" She said as she put her hands on her hips. Miss Bertha was one of the few people I interacted with. She was an older woman who I knew since I was young. She always made sure I ate all my food and would even give me an extra piece of dessert if I was good that day. "I came to see you." I told her smiling. She looked at me with a look letting me know that she knew my intentions weren't exactly what I was telling her. "I came to see you to ask you for a second breakfast." "A second breakfast?" She said as she looked at me in surprise. "Two meals?" I nodded my head. "Young sir, I can fulfill your request but may I ask why?" "I found her." I told Miss Bertha smiling. I trusted this woman with anything. My mate's life included. "Come here." she said as she pulled me closer and whispered. "You found your mate?" I once again nodded. "Where is she exactly?" "Upstairs in my room. I responded. As soon as those words left my lips I left a slap on the back of my head. "Listen here boy, I am patient with anything and everything you do, but what were you thinking bringing in someone into the castle? Have you gone mad?" I rubbed the back of my head as I said, "I found her in the castle. I think she's homeless. I thought it was safer to hide her in my room and not where she was hiding." Miss Bertha looked at me with her arms crossed. After a stern look she said, "You control that beast you have or I myself will put you in your place, you hear?" I nodded. "Now is she wolf or human?" "Well, that the thing -" "Good morning, good morning, good morn- what are you doing here so early?" said Tim. He was one of the many workers in the castle. He was in charge of breakfast and lunch preparations. He was coming in to make sure breakfast would be ready in time and that everything was in order. "I had trouble sleeping so I came to give Miss Bertha some company." I said giving Miss Bertha a smile. Miss Bertha understood and kept our previous conversation quiet as she asked, "Good morning Tim. Where's little Timmy?" Little Timmy was his seven-year-old son who he would occasionally leave in Miss Bertha's care. Unfortunately, his wife died shortly after Timmy was a year old leaving him a widow and in desperate need of help raising his baby. Miss Bertha instantly took him in and helped raise the little boy. "I'm here Mimi." said Timmy behind his father. Mimi was the name he gave Miss Bertha when he was little and she became fond of the nickname so she allowed him to call her that. No else was allowed to call her that. "Good morning, my little angel. Are you hungry this morning?" Timmy nodded his head and followed Miss Bertha into the dining room. I looked at Tim as he stared at the woman and child. "So when you gonna tell her?" Tim chuckled as he responded, "I've already told you, young sir, that is out of the question." I gave him a look. "Ok, yes, I am still very fond of Miss Bertha, but my son comes first. If something were to happen with me and the lady in question, then I ruin what the two of them have. I can't risk that." I held my hands up in surrender as I walked to meet Miss Bertha and Timmy in the dining room. I ate breakfast with the two of them. We talked mostly about Timmy and how he was doing at home with his father. Miss Bertha gave him a little lecture before we finished and went back to the kitchen.  "Take this." Miss Bertha handed me a tray with my mate's breakfast. "Now go, the poor girl is probably starving." I gave Miss Bertha a smile and wink before headed back to the only place I wanted to be: with her.
