Lunchtime.
As Duke had learned from earlier conversations with some jailors, this world still practiced a two-meal system, with lunch being the main meal of the day and the next meal not served until after 7pm.
Inadequate production, as well as religious and political factors, led to this meal system.
For fear of arousing suspicion, he didn’t make any further inquiries, but learned that at lunchtime all the jailors and officials at management levels would assemble in the camp canteen.
The big shots, of course, didn’t eat the same food as the ordinary jailors; they merely presided over the main meal. And for Duke, it was a rare opportunity to move around.
