Hours go by as we hang out at Juanita’s, biding time until we have to leave. I check my watch and see that it’s ten o’clock. We would need to leave in like an hour, to make sure we got there early. I was skeptical about the whole thing honestly, but I trusted Rico. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get there early to scope the place out. I watched Rico down shot after shot, making me anxious. “Slow down!” I yelled out through the music towards Rico “Don’t ruin the fun!” He yelled back “We need you sober enough to walk Rico.” He laughed at my words as he ignored me. Rico always seemed to love a good time, but I don’t blame him for it. Everyone in this business is running away from pain that they’ve been carrying for all their life. Rico is one of them, and his past is pretty ugly. S
