I called Brenda and told her everything that happened. She cried over the phone, making me cry too.
I gave her a heads up about Hector and how he was coming to pick them up. She told me they would pack a few bags to take with them.
Before I hung up, Brenda and I talked about Rueben and if we were gonna let him see Emilio in this state. We decided against it, seeing how his mother’s death still affects him. It’s better that he thinks Emilio is sick and out of town. We will just have to explain later on why he’s hurt and in pain when he wakes up.
