Chapter 5

Eden's POV

I make it to the lake right as my bones start breaking. I grit my teeth my hardest not to scream, I don't need anyone hearing me and coming to investigate. " That's it Eden your doing great don't fight the pain let it consume you. It will make the shift easier on both of us." I'm moaning from the intense burning sensation all over my body. It's like I have millions of needles growing out of my skin. "Luna, it burns. Why does it burn so bad?"It's our fur, Eden. Our fur is coming out. The next part is going to be the worst your back is going to break, and your hands and feet will feel like they are being torn to shreds. I don't want to scare you, but I want to prepare you, just give into the shift, and it will be all over." I strangle another scream as my back breaks in three different spots, I can tell because I heard the snap of each part breaking. My fingernails start to lengthen, and ughhhh, it's like dipping my fingers in liquid silver it burns so bad. I start panting harder, trying to breathe through the pain with my body contorts and bends forward. I grit my teeth some more and fall to the forest floor whimpering and panting. " Eden. Eden honey, we are done. You did such a fantastic job. Catch your breath, then take a look in the lake." I lay there for a couple minutes trying to catch my breath and process the amount of pain I just went through. parts of my body and still twitching from the pain. When I think I can stand, I push myself up onto my paw, wait PAWS, I look down, and am amazed at my first time seeing my paws. I walk towards the lake, I stumble at first but get the hang of my new body quickly. When I reach the lake, I look down and am amazed at the beauty in front of me. " Jeez Luna, you are absolutely beautiful." I gush, and Luna puffs her chest out in pride. Our fur is white with silver ends that seem to sparkle with moonlight shining on them. Our eyes are emerald like mine but so bright they look like they are glowing. "We are beautiful Eden I am you as you are me and now we can finally be us. Now that we are steady, we must run to cement our bond and honor the moon goddess for pairing us." I smile a wolfy smile."Let's hunt Luna. " I let luna take over, and she's off as fast as a bullet, weaving around the trees and jumping over fallen trunks. I can feel her joy and can't help feeling the same way we are finally able to take her form and enjoy the freedom it brings. The feeling of the breeze in our fur and the dirt on our paws is soothing, I already can't wait for our next run. Luna catches the scent of a rabbit and decides to hunt, I sit back and watch through her eyes as she stalks her prey. When she catches her rabbit and is finished eating, she takes us back to the lake to lay down for a minute and rest. "Luna, thank you for helping me through my first shift. I couldn't have done it without you." "No need to thank me I will always be here for you Eden, the first shift is the most painful for normal wolves the first couple shifts hurt but you will only have the pain from the first shift, it won't hurt anymore and won't take as long either". " What do you mean normal wolves?" " you are not ready for that answer yet my dear let's head to our room to rest the shift and run have taken alot of our energy" I get up to shift back and instantly remember I don't have clothes. I walk towards a hollowed out tree. I know they hide extra clothing in. When I get the clothes, I have to ask luna how to shift back. " simply think of your human body and you will shift back It is the same to shift to your wolf body simply think of what I look like and that's all" I think of my human self and the shift Is fast much faster then I thought it would be, I quickly get dressed and run back to my room to sleep. I'm so tired I could sleep for days but I have to start preparing for Alpha Garrett's arrival he will be here at the very end of this month for the alpha ceremony that is during the first full Moon of next month.
