Ryder climbed onto the plane first. The other guide, Sara, was already onboard and talking to the pilot. There were six other jumpers ready to go, all experienced jumpers who were just going up for fun. They would jump first so they didn’t have to work around Cat.
Ryder directed Cat to a seat near the front of the plane. He settled in next to her so he could talk to her on their ride up. He knew this was the worst part and wanted to make sure she was okay before she jumped.
The plane climbed to their altitude and the pilot signaled for people to start jumping. The other six jumpers lined up and took off quickly, leaving only Cat, Ryder, and Sara on the plane with the pilot. “You’re up, Cat. Are you ready?” Ryder shouted to her above the noise.
