AIRPLANE

CHAPTER #5 “AIRPLANE” EVAN’S POV: We were escorted to the airport in record time by the Sabello’s, and as promised, a private jet was being pulled out of the hanger as we arrived. It read Montague Inc., on the side of it, it was a sleek white Bombardier Global 7500 private jet. I had never seen one in person. I knew that Montague had money, although owning this jet made me believe that he had more than I had initially thought. Meredith was still sleeping soundly as the black Mercedes came to a stop alongside the extravagant jet, and I ducked my head to get a better look at it. “Unreal.” I muttered googling at the impressive machine. “Lord Montague just got this one. Waited nearly three years for it. It cost a little over 93 million. But it’s custom order, complete with a private bedroom and bath. It’s crazy. He often allows our family to fly this one, he has another one in France, and another one order.” I redirected my attention to Ralph and frowned. Who in the hell needed three private jets, although I wasn’t going to balk because this one just happened to be in a location that was going to save my ass. Had it not been for Montague’s assistance, I would probably still be floundering around the east coast trying to figure out where to hide. “I will accompany you to Montague’s estate. I have some work I wanted to go over with him regardless. He’s a business partner of ours. I had intended to fly out tomorrow, you just are forcing me to leave early.” Ralph said calmly, glancing back at me from the front seat. He began fumbling within his exquisite black Gucci suit coat inside pocket when I noticed that he had pulled out a syringe. He smiled sinisterly, flipping it in between his fingers. “When we load up in the plane, I will make sure to give your little witch some additional sedation. I wouldn’t want her waking and causing the plane to crash into the Atlantic.” He chucked eerily, and made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. My wolf stood uneasily in my mind and growled lowly. I raised my eyebrows slightly considering he had mentioned that Meredith was a witch. “I never said anything about my girlfriend being a witch.” I said softly, my eyes watching him with a calmness I didn’t feel. I knew this young man was human. However, Ralph, near twenty five years old, probably less than 10 years my junior smirked. “I know she’s a powerful witch. Montague obviously called me and told me what was going on. I know you’re a wolf. I know he’s a vamp. I know all about the supernatural world.” Another obnoxious smirk flickered upon his face, his lip twitching upwards. “My mother is human, but my father is also a vampire and very good friends with Lord Montague. We are hardly just some random humans.” I felt myself shutter a little, I was not a fan of vampires, and here I was running to the sanctuary of one. Montague was both wizard and vampire, neither species were trustworthy as far as I was concerned. However, I knew that he was the only one that would be willing and able to help me at this point. I turned my attention to the plane, watching a handful of men blocking the wheels, and opening the stair column so we could board. Another man came forward and opened my door, and I stepped out of the car and stretched slightly before I reached down and gathered Meredith up in my arms. I could sense Ralph standing unnaturally close to me as he peered down and took in every inch of my chosen mate. “I probably would have taken her too. She’s fantastic.” The same lip curled as it had done earlier, and I had to keep Ronan from shifting and tearing his throat out. This guy was evil and gave me the creeps, and that was saying something. Discovering that the Sabello family was supernatural explained the power that they bolstered. Their reputation was brutal, merciless, and opposing sides were seditiously wiped out one by one, and they were one of the most feared mob families in the US. I ignored him and walked up the stairs, into the jet, with the Dhampir following closely behind me. I paused once I reached the interior of the jet, glanced back at Ralph who signaled me to continue walking. We walked to the end of the jet, to a private room, where a beautiful full-size bed took a significant amount of the back. Furnished beautifully, with rich golden tapestries and rich blankets or ivory and cream. “Put her here.” The mobster ordered me. I didn’t hesitate and laid her down on the bed gently. “I gave her a large dose of wolfsbane, so she should be out for a while.” I advised Ralph as he took a step closer to me. He smiled that same off kilter smirk and took a step nearer, putting him shoulder to shoulder with me. “I don’t give two shits what your stupid little wolfy-self gave her. I was instructed to give her an injection of Midazolam to keep her knock the f**k out and that is exactly what I plan to do. So, you can either move, or join her. I have multiple syringes.” He sneered at me. My blue eyes pierced into his dark brown ones, looking into his soul, I could see a vacancy I had never observed in any living being. I stood firm, still blocking his path to her. “Is it safe? It won’t kill her?” I gulped, not intending to. His shoulder bumped me, as he kneeled beside Meredith on the bed, injecting the drug into her. “Shouldn’t.” he stated matter of factly, and his words frankly didn’t give me any sort of relief. I heard Ronan yip in my head angrily and I waved him down in my mind. I needed to get out of here and as long as I could keep her alive until we reached our destination that was what we were going to have to do. At Montague’s I would have access to a computer and could get my money switched around and everything I needed to do for us to start our new life, whatever that would become to be. I stared at Meredith sleeping soundly, she was stunning, her flowing dark walnut colored hair fell about her shoulders, her slender build and delicate feminine features would entrance any man. I turned after a moment’s hesitation and noticed Ralph still standing beside me. This guy was unnerving and being half vampire made a lot of sense and explained much of the peculiar details I was noticing. “She is exquisite. I can understand why you would claim her.” He said in a husky tone. I had to keep myself calm, interacting with Ralph was becoming more difficult the longer I was in his presence. I heard a deep sigh. “Behind that door is a full bathroom with some clothes that should fit you. You are roughly the same size as my father and Lord Montague. They always keep a couple changes of clothes in the wardrobe there. Might as well get cleaned up and comfortable, it’s damn near a 10-hour flight.” He said after a slight hesitation he relented and exited the private cabin. I sat down onto the bed with unease as I heard the engines begin to roar, suggesting that they were preparing to take off. As soon as we were in the air comfortably, I would indeed get myself cleaned up, I needed to be at my best to meet with Montague. Within the following thirty minutes, we were up in the air and on our way to the south of France. I had never been there before, although my father had when I was younger. He had been nearly lifelong friends with Lord Montague, although I had no idea how they met, or what their story actually was. All I ever knew was that they were good friends. I didn’t particularly feel comfortable with having a vampire as a friend and consort, however I needed anyone in my corner right now, so Montague and the Sabellos would have to be my ace for survival.
