DIVULDGING THE PLAN

CHAPTER #8 “DIVULDGING THE PLAN” MEREDITH’S POV: Evan carried me out of the room and followed the butler up a large dark staircase. Everything about this castle was dark, ancient but rich, very characteristic of a vampire. When we finally arrived at a huge medieval door, the butler opened the room to us and stepped aside. “Madame, Monsieur.” He said cordially with a frown, dipping his head to us in respect. He was also a Dhampir, I could sense it. He, like Ralph, was soulless. Frankly, I think the Dhampirs upset me more than the ordinary vampires did. Evan didn’t seem to notice; however his face was stern and he almost seemed uncomfortable walking into this room. The door was closed behind us as soon as we walked into the room and Evan sat me on the bed gently. I watched him intently as he began pacing nervously around the room, glancing out windows and never truly making eye contact with me. I adjusted myself on the edge of the bed and noticed that this room was much brighter than the rest of the castle, this room was made for humans, not for vampires. I felt much more at ease here than I had, although I still had questions that needed to be answered, such as why I was here. “Why? Why am I here?” I asked the pacing Alpha, drawing his attention to me. Evan stopped and turned, twitching his blonde moustache at me, almost surprised I had spoken. He took a couple of steps closer to me, however remained a few feet away, slowly sliding his hands into his grey slacks. I could see him thinking, his eyes not focused on any one thing. “Because I need you.” He finally said, still not looking at me. I was confused, how in the hell could I be of any use to him? “How? I have no value to you.” I retorted calmly; I needed information anyway I could get it. I thought about using magic, but I was still horribly week, there was no way I could cast any spell at this moment regardless of what I wanted to do. After a moment his deep blue eyes finally focused on my face. “I lost mate, my pack, my family. You were my out. Taking you granted my safety out of America. You will help me restore my future; you are my future.” He said in a low forceful tone, that honestly, I found a touch unnerving. I attempted to stand, but was unable and tumbled back onto the bed, Evan was beside me in less than a second. He gently assisted me back to my upright position and I noticed a kindness I had not seen there before. The confusion of what this man actually had hindered me. It was the same hint of kindness I had seen in the woods before he had taken me captive. Was it the human, or was it his wolf? “I be mated to another. You had no right to mark me.” I said, my energy failing, and I felt my eyes begin to become heavy. Evan pushed the hair away from my eyes and tenderly laid me down onto the bed, stroking my cheek. “Your mate is nothing, and you will realize that tonight, when I make you forget your past and only see me as your future.” He brushed my long hair back, however the gravity of his words finally hit me, and I attempted to sit up in a panic. I had heard of Vampires that were able to do mind compulsion, the ability to erase one’s memory, and because I had been so overwhelmed with drugs, I would never be able to protect myself. I watched as the Alpha sat beside me, then drew his attention to a note beside a syringe on a nightstand. He took the note and read it, then took the syringe and lowered it to my neck. My eyes widened with panic. “Please no. No more.” I whimpered, imploring with him not to inject me with anymore drugs. He smiled half-heartedly, however slowly, almost sadistically injected the needle deeply into my neck. I felt a burning begin flowing into my neck and I felt my terror and rage overwhelm me as my blue electric energy consumed me. I lurched myself up, arched my back and screamed, whilst my power exploded all around me, sending Evan flying backwards and into a wall. I fell back onto the bed, the needle still embedded into my neck as I gasped, feeling my eye lids becoming heavy as I struggled to remain alert. “Dost cuimhnigh, dost cuimhnigh… dost cuimhnigh.” I panted, fighting the sleep that was overwhelming me. I needed to remember, I needed my memory intact so that someday I could leave this hell. I knew that my spell would be weak, as I was weak, but I needed something, anything. “Mo grà …” the finals words I uttered as I succumbed to the injection, another sedative no doubt. Dost cuimhnigh mo grà, memory remember, my love. EVAN’S POV: I had noticed that there was some sort of edginess to Montague when he had called for Andre to direct us to our room. I wasn’t sure what had happened; however, I wasn’t in the position to ask questions at this point. His quiet, creepy servant led us up to a room that was much brighter than the rest of the house, although still designed in a medieval, this room at least let in sunlight. I also noticed that Meredith was visibly upset, as soon as he had showed her my mark in the mirror, she appeared to tip, and as soon as she began to become upset, he had ordered us to leave. I was a werewolf; I wasn’t familiar with vampire and warlock triggers and customs. All I knew was that something had alarmed him, and it was in our best interest to leave. However, as I set Meredith on the bed, she immediately began baiting me like she had the night that I had taken her. I attempted to ignore her the best I could and refrain from becoming upset, allowing myself to focus on the opposite wall as she tried to entice me to argue. Although when I heard her say she belonged to another, Ronan growled furiously in my head. “I be mated to another. You had no right to mark me.” Her words scalded me, yet I simply reached over and pushed the hair away from her eyes and tenderly laid her down onto the bed. Ronan growled and stood in my head. “She’s mine. My mate.” He snapped, showcasing the impressive set of teeth in the corner of my mind. I sighed and shushed the wolf in my head. “Not the time Ronan.” I barked, as I continued stoking her cheek. “Let me handle this.” I warned him as I focused on Meredith. “Your mate is nothing, and you will realize that tonight, when I make you forget your past and only see me as your future.” I brushed her long hair back, when I noticed a note beside a syringe on a nightstand. I reached over and took the note and opened it. Evan, Meredith will recognize me from her past. It is unlikely she will be cooperative, so until I can take away her memory, it is best if you sedate her for all our safety as she will rekindle her powers quickly. Montague. Honestly, I felt bad that I needed to dose her with another sedative. I didn’t want to lose her over something so stupid as overmedicating her. “Please no. No more.” she whimpered. I smiled half-heartedly, however slowly, injected the needle deeply into her neck. I knew and realized that she was far more dangerous alert than not. I hadn’t a clue what she had concurred about being her, and I thought it odd for her to become so visibly upset in the middle of the conversation. Had Montague said something that I missed? Did she know something I did not? I brushed my index finger over my moustache and began to stand upright when I noticed that characteristic electric blue coming from her that I had seen from Bridgette. “s**t!” I yipped; however, I was too late. Meredith lurched up off the bed, sitting upright and arching her back. Her wail was unholy and made my skin crawl, it was like nothing I had ever heard before. The strange blue power exploded from her, sending me flying backwards and into a wall. I hit hard, however was able to focus as I sat there regaining my bearings. Meredith fell back onto the bed, the needle still embedded in her neck as I heard her gasp. I was able to make out some hardly audible mumbling, as I attempted to stand, however was unable, so I crawled over to the bed and pulled the needle from her neck. Meredith’s eyes were closed, and she was barely conscious. “Dost cuimhnigh, dost cuimhnigh… dost cuimhnigh. Mo grà …” I thought I made out her words, they were not English, and I didn’t speak anything but. Was she attempting to cast a spell? I slowly rose with the help of the mattress, pulling myself completely up. I had a major goose egg on the back of my head, I realized as I rubbed the back of my skull. “f*****g witches.” I grumbled as I tossed the needle onto the night table and unsteadily left the bedroom. I had questions and needed some answers of just exactly what was happening.
