CHAPTER SIX

2802 Words
Adrienne POV As I walked into Sandy’s I felt a lot of eyes on me. I made sure not to dress too flashy to avoid this exact thing. I wore black ripped jeans, a loose black blouse and a black leather jacket. My hair was straight and laid on the top of my chest and I had on my favorite nude lipstick. With everyone’s eyes on me I started to feel uncomfortable but then I heard Sandy calling me from the bar. “Adrienne get over here darling!” She waved me over with a huge smile on her face. There was something about Sandy that instantly made me feel at ease. I felt safe around her. “Hey Sandy!” I skipped over to her and hopped on the empty bar stool in front of her. “I’m really glad Hunter was able to find you honey. Everyone loved you at amateur night. I have another event coming up this weekend, where the best voices in town come and compete for a cash prize.” “How much is the cash prize?”  “ Five thousand dollars.” She said nonchalantly.  My eyes shot open and so did my mouth FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS?! Holy Hell! “That’s a lot of money Sandy. I guess business is doing really good.” We both laughed but her laugh was more of a ‘You’re treading the line and this is the nicest way I could tell you’ laugh. I got the hint and quickly moved the conversation along. “Well count me in.” I gave her the most innocent smile I could to soften her up again and the curves of her lips finally formed a soft smile. “Here, put your number in my phone and I’ll text you all the information about the event. Oh! I almost forgot the winner also gets paid to perform here every Saturday night too.”  I quickly punched my number in her phone and gave it back to her. I was so excited for the opportunity and I loved playing here, the bar was just filled with good energy. “Can you put your number in my phone too gorgeous?”  A familiar voice made me smile and turn around in my stool and the sight made my heart race. Hunter was wearing a black long sleeve button-up collar shirt that hugged his muscles perfectly. The first two buttons were undone and the sleeves were rolled up to his strong forearms. He wore a pair of blue jeans to finish off the outfit.  “That shouldn’t be a problem if you play your cards right tonight Mr. Morgan.”  I gave him a sly smirk and raised my eyebrow. He smiled showing me those sexy dimples again and I had to remind myself that I was a good girl. He said hi to Sandy and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before wrapping my arm in his and walking me over to our table. “You and Sandy seem really close.” I said, starting the conversation to avoid the part of dates that end up with awkward silence. “Yeah, she’s like my second mom. She’s been there for me through a lot. I’ll do anything for that woman and I know she’ll do anything for me.” I looked at him and I could tell he meant every word and that their relationship was something he really cherished. “That’s really nice. You’re lucky to have someone like her in your life.” “Well it seems like she took a liking to you so you might be stuck with her too.” The thought made me smile. Being on Sandy’s good side was definitely a good thing. Just then a male waiter approached the table breaking our conversation. "How you guys doing today? My name is Josh and I'll be your server for the night. Can I get you guys some drinks to start off with?" His words were meant for both of us but he was only looking at me the whole time. "Two shots of whiskey.” The bass in Hunter’s voice made Josh immediately turn his attention to him and force on his best customer service smile. “Do you want anything else Adrienne?” Hunter asked me. “Nope.” I replied, shaking my head. “Whiskey is perfect.” "No problem. I'll be right back with your drinks." Josh said while trying his best to keep on his customer service smile. Hunter's eyes never left his as he watched him turn around and head for the kitchen.  Josh had already disappeared into the crowd but Hunter’s body still seemed a little tense. I-Is he jealous? He always seems so calm, cool and collected so seeing him off his game and a little jealous made me smile. "Let's play a game." I said trying to distract him. His eyes met mine, intrigued as to what I was going to say next.  "I'm pretty sure you already know how to play quarters but since this is a date, I figure we switch it up a bit and get to know each other. If you make the cup I'll have to drink and you get to ask a question and vice versa." He ran his fingers through his beard weighing out what I said. "Are you any good? The last thing I want is for you to get drunk on our first date. What kind of gentleman would that make me?" I squinted my eyes at him. He had a way of saying one thing but meaning something completely different to get under your skin. Well not today Hunter Morgan, this time I'm going to be the one who gets under yours. "I guess there's only one way to find out." I pulled a quarter out of my pocket and twirled it around my index and middle finger before slamming it on the table. Josh came back with our drinks, this time not even looking my way. "Two shots of whiskey as requested. Is there anything else I could get you guys?"  Hunter looked at me before giving me his signature smile. "Bring us the bottle." ****** We were five rounds in now and Hunter hasn't made one shot. It actually kind of surprised me. He didn't seem like the kind of man that will lose at anything.  I found out that he had a younger sister named Leah. He worked for his family business. That guy I met at the gym was his best friend Alex, and apparently him being calm, cool and collected all the time wasn't always the case.  He told me that he and Alex were always getting into fights when they were kids. So his dad put him in Jiu-Jitsu hoping that it'll give him a better outlet and he's been studying it ever since. I guess that explains how he was able to take Chris down so quickly. I think I might have somewhat of a bad boy on my hands.  "We're about to be on our sixth round and you haven't made one shot yet. I hope you're not letting me win Hunter!" I exclaimed.  He laughed, adjusted himself in the seat and grabbed the quarter from the table. Without breaking eye contact with me he bounced the quarter on the table and it fell right into the shot glass. That was definitely not a lucky shot. “I guess that means you drink Gorgeous.”  He poured me my shot and I guzzled it down, embracing the burn. A drop of whiskey streamed down the side of my lip and I stuck my tongue out to catch it before it could get any further. Hunter’s eyes turned a dark blue and he took a deep breath in.  “So what’s your question?” I asked him trying to bring him out of whatever fantasy was going on in his head right now. His eyes finally left my lips and he ran his fingers through his beard thinking about what his question was going to be. “Where are you from Adrienne? I know you’re not from here and it doesn’t seem like you and ‘Knockout Chris’ are from the same place.” I couldn’t help but laugh. I’m never going to be able to look at Chris again without thinking of his new nickname. “I was born and raised in Florida but LA taught me everything I know about life.” “So what made you move?” His eyes were studying me intently making me feel extremely exposed. “You didn’t make the shot yet. Cheater!” He easily bounced another quarter into the shot glass without breaking eye contact and waited for me to answer his question. “The LA lifestyle just got a little too much for me. I needed to get away and start fresh and my cousin had an extra bedroom so here I am.” Hunter made every shot in after that and ten shots later, he knew almost everything about me. Well the most you can know about someone on the first date. I have to say I was having a great time with him. He was the first person in a long time that I felt comfortable talking to, besides Taylor. I could tell that he was having a good time too, although he wasn’t as drunk as I was. By my sixth or seventh shot I had realized that I’d been hustled but being that we were both enjoying ourselves, I didn’t really care. “Hey Hunter!”  A girl with stringy blonde hair approached the table. She had on blue jeans and a pink crop top. Her skin would have been nice if it weren’t ruined by dark blemishes, and her blue eyes were glossed over. Hunter didn’t look too happy when he saw her. “What do you want Veronica?” You could hear the annoyance in his voice. “Laura has been trying to reach you. I didn’t think you’d be over here with a random hoe.” She looked me up and down and I knew she was on something. I decided not to acknowledge her ignorant comment. All I felt for her was pity. Hunter on the other hand felt anything but. “Veronica, you have about one second to turn around and walk away.” The warm atmosphere was instantly gone and Hunter’s words sent chills down my spine. “I’m not Laura, I’m not gonna just sit here and let you talk to me any way you f*****g want to Hunter! Especially not over some stupid random b***h!”  Her hand was coming towards me so I grabbed her wrist and pulled it behind her back in a wrist lock, while slamming her head on the table. She tried to lift her head and every time she did I just slammed it back down even harder. “I get a little jumpy when I see hands coming towards my face. How about you and your friend...what’s her name? Laura, stop coming for me and we won’t have to redo this again.” “f**k you b***h!” She screamed. “You can’t say I didn’t try.”  I pulled her head up by her hair and slammed it on the table. The impact caused her to fall backwards. Her hands immediately went to her face and you could see the blood oozing through the space between her fingers. I broke her nose. Once she got up I could feel the rage seeping through her pores. She went to charge at me again but this time she was stopped by one of Sandy's security guards. He grabbed her by her waist and picked her up. He was trying to make it to the exit but Veronica wasn't making it easy. She was kicking, punching and screaming. Blood from her nose was dripping into her mouth and onto strands of hair that flew into her face. I was so distracted by Veronica's scene that I didn't even notice Hunter was standing behind me with his hands on my hips. He turned me around and ran his rough hands down my bare arms. The sensation made it hard for me to catch my breath. "I want you so bad Adrienne." His words made my head spin and those eight shots were starting to rile in my throat and I vomited all over Hunter’s boots. Great Adrienne. Just Great. *** Hunter POV Watching Adrienne put Veronica on her ass made me so f*****g hard, I was barely able to control myself. For a second I forgot where we were and I just wanted to bend her over the table and drive my d**k into her perfectly round ass. Unfortunately, that all disappeared once I noticed Adrienne’s face turn pale and her vomit all over my boots. I held her hair up and out of her face while she continued to throw up her insides. After the fifth dry heave, I signaled a waiter over to clean up the mess.  “I’m so sorry. I promise I’ll get you a new pair of boots. You can burn those if you want. I know it’s gross! I ruined the moment didn’t I? You were so gonna kiss me and it was gonna be all hot and s****l and I ruined it! And I ruined your boots!” Adrienne rambled. She looked up at me with embarrassment and drunkenness written all over her face, and it was the most adorable thing I had ever seen. “You’re drunk gorgeous. Let’s get you home.”  I paid the bill and left a very generous tip. When we both got up to leave Adrienne was having a hard time keeping her balance. l scooped her into my arms and carried her out of the bar. She didn’t fight me, instead she snuggled into my chest, took a deep breath and closed her eyes. My body instantly felt at ease. I could hold her like this the whole night. When we got to my truck I put her in the front seat and strapped her in. “Where do you live gorgeous?” She just smiled and turned her back to me. I gave it another shot but no success. This girl was done for the night. “I guess my house it is then.”  I drove out of the parking lot and took off towards my house. *** I carried Adrienne inside and laid her on my bed. She barely moved a muscle as some of her hair fell in front of her face. I ran to the bathroom and grabbed the empty bucket and put it next to her side of the bed. Then I carefully removed her jacket and put it on the sofa. When I looked over at her she looked so peaceful sleeping. I took my hand and tucked the hair in front of her face behind her ear. “You caused a lot of trouble tonight, gorgeous.”  She moaned and a frown formed on her face before she reached for the hems of her blouse and pulled it off. A red lace bra was holding up her beautiful smooth breast and it took everything in me not to finish taking it off for her. “Woah Adrienne. Put your shirt back on please.” I told her as I looked away, trying to settle down my man downstairs. She aggressively shook her head and started to unbutton her pants and the red lace from her panties peeked through. I grabbed her hand trying to make her stop but she slapped it out of the way. “Please, Hunter I'm so hot.” Her honey eyes blazed into mine and my d**k started to stiffen against my jeans. “For f**k’s sake gorgeous, I’m only a man.” I softly threw a sheet on top of her while she fell back asleep. I ran to the bathroom and threw on the cold water in the shower. “This is gonna be a long f*****g night.”
