Hunter POV
The meeting with the Bakers took way longer than expected. Mrs. Baker couldn’t make up her mind on anything, probably because she was staring me down with her “Come f**k me eyes”. After her sixth time changing the color of the backsplash I was f*****g over it. These people were ready to spend big money on this project so as much as Mrs. Baker made me want to throw up, offending them wouldn’t be in my best interest. I looked towards my mom who could already tell what was going to happen next and she rolled her eyes.
“I’m sorry Mr. and Mrs. Baker. I actually have another meeting that I have to run to.” I pulled out my phone to act like I was doing something important on it.
“My mother will be able to finish up and once everything is decided on we’ll email over the estimate.” Mrs. Baker shot up out of her seat, her fake boobs almost hitting her chin in the process, and she made her way towards me.
“Well we all know Mr. Morgan is a very busy man so we won’t take up any more of your time, but I do look forward to working with you.” She was so orange. Her bad spray tan covered her entire body including her hands. It took everything I had to keep my face from showing how disgusted I was.
“Yes, from the looks of things so far, I have no doubt Mr. Morgan will do amazing things with our home.” Mr. Baker interjected after noticing his wife squirming in her pants itching to jump on top of me. Poor guy, he was probably in his fifties or sixties. The little bit of hair he had left on his head was gray and he was on the chubbier side. She was definitely just with him for his money.
I gave them a quick smile and nod then darted for the door leaving my mom to deal with that s**t show. As I’m walking to the parking lot my phone rings. It’s Alex, my best friend. He annoyed the hell out of me but I trusted him with everything that I had. We’ve been together since we were kids, our dads have been best friends since college and opened the business together.
“Why don’t you have any food in your house?” I heard a door slam and bottles rattle in the background.
“All you have in your fridge is beer and f*****g water! What am I supposed to eat?”
“How the hell did you get in my house?!”
“Oh dude I made a copy of the key as soon as we finished building this place.” He said that as if that was something normal people do.
“Yeah I’m gonna need that key.”
“Sure no problem, as soon as you pull it out of my ass.”
“You know...I must’ve done some really f****d up s**t in my past life to be stuck with you as a best friend.” I honestly didn’t care that he had a key, but I wasn’t going to let him know that.
“So why are you at my house?”
“Rebecca caught me cheating again so I’m hiding out. I have to say I picked a shitty safe house though since you don’t have any f*****g FOOD!”
“You know you’re more than welcome to leave and find another house.” I didn’t even bother asking about the girl he slept with, he probably wouldn’t remember her name anyway. Alex f****d so much I’m surprised his d**k hasn’t fallen off yet.
“Can’t…I took an uber here so Rebecca wouldn’t see my truck. You know if she did she would break every window you have here just to get in. Plus you’ll miss out on quality time with your best bud.”
“Whatever. I’ll be there soon, get the gloves ready so we could get a spar session in.”
“BRING SOME FOOD DAMMIT!!” Alex yelled before I hung up the phone. He’ll be at my house two days tops. That would give Rebecca enough time to cool down so she won’t kill him, but not so much time that she wouldn’t be in the mood for crazy makeup s*x. Rebecca was nuts but something about her kept Alex going back for more. They were a f****d up couple that I stopped trying to understand a long time ago.

Adrienne POV
“Okay I think I have everything I need”. I looked around my plain white room that I haven’t been able to decorate yet and started checking things off my mental checklist.
“Guitar, keys, necklace.” I grabbed the necklace my father gave me when I was a little girl and kissed it. It was his way of always being there for me to protect me even if he wasn’t around. I haven’t taken it off since.
“Damn girl you look amazing!”
Taylor was standing in my doorway waving her hand in a motion that emphasized how hot I was. I was wearing an olive green dress that showed every one of my curves, a denim jacket, and beige gladiator heels. My hair was in wavy waterfall curls that fell past my shoulders and I used eyeliner, mascara and nude lipstick for makeup. I never really needed a lot of it.
“It really sucks that you can’t come” I whined at Taylor and gave her the saddest puppy face I could. The fact that she couldn’t come just added on to my already elevated nerves.
“You’re gonna do great. Just breathe and let the music take you, tune out everything else.” She brought her hands up to my face and cupped my cheeks.
“You are an amazing singer Dri. Go show the world how good you are. Let them see the real you.”
I held her hands that were still cupped to my cheeks, took a deep breath and smiled at her. She always knew how to calm me down and reel me back in.
“Ok I got this.” One last look in the mirror and I was off to Sandy’s.
****
“Wow this is definitely not what I expected.”
Sandy’s was huge! There were three floors. The first floor was a bar and restaurant, the second floor was a club with a gigantic dance floor, and the basement had a boxing ring where you went to settle any issues that happened. I wasn’t sure if that was legal but if the cops didn’t question it, I wasn’t going to either.
The restaurant had a warm rustic feel to it. There was a long bar that had two male bartenders and one female. The stage was in the middle of the room and there were tables and booths for people to sit, eat and enjoy the music. Even though the guy on stage was getting booed off.
“ You ready darling? You’re gonna be going up soon.” A voice from behind me caused me to turn around. It was Sandy. She had on a black tank top and blue jeans. Her hair was black with gray strands in the front, but it was so long it almost reached her butt. It made me think how much of a hassle it must be trying to control it. Her face was gentle but the look she wore on it let you know that Sandy was not the one to mess with.
“I was until I saw all of this.” I pointed my thumb in the back of me to point out everyone booing. She giggled and put her arm around my shoulder making me turn back around.
“That’s one thing about my bar. If you suck the people will let you know. Getting up on that stage ain’t for the weak.”
“Oh trust me I know about that all too well.” I looked out to the audience as memories started to flood my mind.
“Yeah I can tell.” Sandy’s words jumped me out of my head.
“That big smile of yours ain’t fooling me sweetie. I know you got somethin’ in your past that you’re running away from. s**t lord knows I’ve been there a few times myself. Just know the past always comes back to haunt you and you need to be ready for that.” Before I could say anything she walked away and made her way to the stage.
“Okay Gents and Gals! Next up we have the beautiful!….Adrienne”
‘It's now or never.’ I took a deep breath, kissed my father’s necklace and walked on stage.
Hunter POV
“Holy s**t I can’t feel my chest.” Alex was laid out on the floor trying to catch his breath.
“You keep fighting like that and Rebecca will definitely kick your ass.” I reached out my hand to help him up, giving him one of my cocky grins.
“f**k you dude. We’ve been at this for at least 2 hours. Who the f**k does that? Laura not satisfying your needs enough so you need another outlet?” He hit me with two left hooks to my ribcage, while laughing. This guy thinks he’s funny. I pulled my arm as far back as I could and hit him square in the chest causing him to fumble backwards and hit the wall.
“You're a dick.” He was gasping for air while giving me the finger. I just shook my head while I laughed at him grabbing my phone to check the time.
“s**t. I gotta start getting ready.”
“Where the hell are you going?” Alex was finally able to breathe and stand on his own without using the wall for balance.
“Laura wants me to go to Sandy's to show some “support” for Veronica. She’s performing tonight. You coming?”
“Hell no! Sandy’s is the first place Rebecca will look for me and plus I unfortunately f****d Veronica. I ain’t trying to relive that s**t again.” He shook his head as if he were ashamed of himself. I stood staring at him in disgust for a few seconds.
“What in this entire f*****g universe would possess you to have s*x with Veronica?”
“I think she drugged me dude, that’s the only logical explanation.”
“No, you just f**k anything with a hole. I’m surprised you haven’t f****d your horse yet.”
“Well there was this one time-” I turned around and darted for the door before he could finish his sentence. I definitely wasn’t ready for whatever was going to come out of his mouth next.

Sandy’s was packed. Cars were lined up around the corner trying to get into the parking lot. Lucky for me Sandy was like my second mom. I never had to wait in any lines and she let me park in the back with the employees. As I walked through the kitchen greeting the cooks on the way, I heard the most amazing voice I’ve ever heard in my life. I grabbed the closest stool next to me and watched this gorgeous girl sing the saddest song.
Who is this girl? I’ve never seen her around before. She was so f*****g beautiful. She had flawless tan skin, nice silky dark brown hair and her lips were so full and juicy. The thought of them around my d**k made me hard. But what really pulled me in were her big honey eyes. They were so sad and full of pain. I wanted to know more about her. Her eyes locked onto me for a second and my breath caught in my throat. She flashed the audience a huge smile and it wasn’t until I heard the roar of applause that I noticed I had stopped breathing.
She was making her way off the stage and walking past me. I don’t know what came over me but I reached out and grabbed her arm to stop her from walking away. My eyes locked onto hers and it was like I got swallowed into an ocean of honey. I was so mesmerized I didn’t even notice the right hook that was coming straight for my face. My hand instantly let go of her arm and I was brought out of my blissful daze.
“Who the f**k do you think you are grabbing me like that!?” Her eyes were like daggers that froze me in place.
“f*****g i***t!” She turned around and stormed off, leaving me there with a stupid grin on my face. I could hear someone laughing so hard it sounded like they were dying. I look over and see Sandy hunched over grabbing her stomach.
“My oh my! I would have never thought I’d see the day Hunter Morgan chase after a girl and get knocked out in the process.”
“Sandy, who was that?”
