Chapter 14: Kingsley Pack I looked at Monica and quietly asked again. "What about your family? Do they despise your younger brother?" Monica was startled, she looked at me with eyes that seemed to understand everything. Monica shook her head and replied softly. "No, my family doesn't feel that being born an Omega is a sin. Although everyone in the Pack doesn't like my brother and also looks at him with contempt. But my parents don't feel that way." I smiled slightly and said. "That's really nice!" The years of my life have always been lived in admiration and fear. Admiring others for having love, admiring others for being embraced and loved by their parents, admiring others for not needing to try to do anything and still being able to live an ordinary life. I have always lived in constant fear. Because I have nothing special about myself, I fear that even my existence will be forgotten. Because I am too weak, I fear that I won't be able to protect the things I love. So I have never dared to dream, never dared to hope for anything. Because I know, such good things will never come to me. But sometimes when I hear about others having an easier life than mine, I still feel a pang in my heart. That feeling is like a chronic illness that can never be fully cured, just waiting for an unexpected moment to gnaw at my heart again. I leaned my head against the wall behind me, closed my eyes tightly, and said to Monica. "I know, one day this world will no longer care about ranks. People in vulnerable positions like me will one day get to live an ordinary life. But unfortunately, I wasn't meant to live in such a world." Monica's younger brother still gets to live in the love of his parents, but as for me... From the moment at age fifteen, when I stood in the crowd under the expectant gazes of my parents but couldn't call out the wolf inside me. When the whispers gradually grew louder, pitying and contemptuous looks intertwined and surrounded me. I panicked and ran to find my parents, as if clinging to my last lifeline. But when I ran over and grabbed their hands, they brutally flung my hands away, causing me to fall flat onto the cold ground. At that time, I completely couldn't understand why they did that, I just felt a heartache so unbearable that tears burst out uncontrollably. I looked up trembling and murmured asking. "Why..." But when I raised my head, my father's disappointed gaze and my mother's helpless face left me stunned. My father turned his back on me and only tossed back a single sentence. "Useless!" The moment both my father and mother turned and walked away, leaving me sitting helplessly in the crowd, was when I first experienced the shock of being abandoned. That feeling was so painful, so suffocating, beyond description. Ivy had awakened as a powerful Alpha, so my parents always expected me to also become someone more capable than others. But a result like that turned all those expectations into smoke. I became a person without value in my parents' eyes, a useless child who could contribute nothing. In the years that followed, I lived in the Pack like an invisible person, no one cared about me, not even my parents. My life just drifted by peacefully until Ivy was about to enroll in the academy. That evening, my father called me over and said coldly. "You should go to the academy with Ivy. The enrollment procedures have all been completed." I asked back blankly. "I have to go too? But I..." My father slammed the table hard and glared at me. The pressure was so overwhelming that I couldn't say another word, so I just silently nodded and quietly left. Later I found out, the one who wanted me to enter the academy wasn't my father, but Ivy. She was the one who came and made a deal with my father, persuading him to let her take me along. Although this academy is still a dangerous and unsafe place for me, not much different from being in the Pack, Ivy knew that if she left without me and I stayed alone in the Pack, I would suffer even more. She wanted to take me to where she was, so that at least she could protect me even just a little. I myself understood that very clearly, if Ivy left the Pack, my life there would be nothing but a hell with no way out. I sighed inwardly. "I know she means well for me, but in reality, life at the academy is still just as difficult and painful as it is at the Pack. So what's the point?" Monica saw my somewhat gloomy expression and quickly reached out to gently touch my shoulder as if to comfort me, and said. "What's wrong? Your face doesn't look too good." I shook my head and replied. "It's nothing, I just suddenly remembered a few things that weren't very pleasant." Monica looked at me with worried eyes and spoke softly. "I'm sorry, did I remind you of those unpleasant things?" I gave a faint smile and looked at Monica, saying. "It's not because of you. Honestly, I admire your younger brother. He has a truly wonderful family. An Omega's life is inherently full of countless hardships, I hope for your brother's sake, things will be a bit gentler." Monica smiled, speaking with sparkling eyes full of hope. "My family belongs to the Kingsley Pack, and the Kingsley Pack treats Omegas pretty decently, so I'm quite at ease. Ah, right. The Lycan of Kingsley is Lucian, do you know him?" I froze. The Kingsley Pack, that's the Pack of that crazy Lycan!
