Jessica JORDAN ENDED UP staying away for more than a couple of hours. Even worse, when the sun began to set, my mind started playing tricks on me. Every noise in and around the cabin seemed to startle me and every shadow creeped me out. Eventually, I couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t want to be alone. Grabbing the gun, I snuck out of the cabin and ran to the two-story boathouse. I walked up the stairs to the second level and knocked softly. The door opened and there he was, standing there with his night-vision glasses on. I chuckled. “You look like some kind of alien.” He pulled me inside. “I thought I told you to stay put,” he said gruffly, removing the glasses. “Relax, will you? I was just worried about you,” I lied. “As you can see, I’m fine. You should have stayed in the cabin.
