“So… how does it work? Is that magic?” Inang Dayang asked Bughaw.
“No, it is called Science. The people who created it study how nature works then create something new out of it and convert it into something that people can use. You don’t need superpowers or magic. You just need to study. Or even buy from a store.”
I laughed a bit at Bughaw’s idea while my parents and Tandang Elyong remained bewildered. We didn’t have the concept of money. We still trade with other people or tribes in terms of goods and services. But what Bughaw said was true. I didn’t know much about how the technology works. But if you have money, you don’t have to create your own. It would be someone else’s job.
