I was still a little girl the first time I heard stories about the fall of the Gate Age and the devastation we thought had almost destroyed humanity. There were tales of starships falling from the sky, critical technologies and infrastructure suddenly failing to work, and raiders who would kill entire villages for a simple piece of tech that still functioned.
