“Ahh,” Raasas replied, shaking his head. “We have solution for this. In village. Come!” He turned and began marching back toward the forest’s edge. He paused when we didn’t immediately follow. “We did for Hunter. We do for you. Come.”
“Actually, Raasas,” Hunter replied, gently leaning against me for more than just balance, “I think we have a faster way to get there.”
The stealth assault craft landed in a wide glade, sliding easily between the massive trunks that encircled it. Here the forest was older, the thick undergrowth from around the lake was gone and immense trees dominated as their wide canopies obscured much of the light filtering to the ground.
