Chapter 27 - Dhampires & UndeadsI slipped around the bar and found the drawer where Tremayne had stashed the dagger wide open. I stumbled on something, stubbing my toe. I swore softly, looked down and found the sheath laying on the floor, as though cast aside. I dipped, picked it up and slipped the dagger back into the sheath and made sure the thing was secured.
To Rick I said, “I don't know what he paid you in order to get me into bed with him, but I hope it was enough.” I stomped away.
Without looking back at him, I found my way to the stairs. I don't know where my slippers had wound up. It didn't matter at this point.
“Sabrina. Wait,” Rick called to me. He chugged up the steps behind me, his steps loud. I reached the top without slowing, gained the landing in the kitchen and paused.
