CHAPTER ONE

ADELINE'S POV “I don't mean to make you feel bad, but why do you keep hoping that Xavier will fall for you someday?” Oliver, Xavier's best friend, eyed me from head to toe as I walked into his sitting room. “I just came here to spend the night, okay? You can go party by your best friend's side and let me have my peace already,” I scoffed, collapsing on the nearest couch to relax my mind. He was still holding the door open as if he were contemplating whether or not to shut it. “What?” He questioned, shooting me a dirty smirk after I raised a brow at him, making me roll my eyes. “Please don't tell me you're also hosting a party at your place,” I begged, hoping not to have gotten myself into the same scene I was running away from in Xavier's house. “No,” he replied in a husky tone. “Not really…” he trailed off while taking clumsy steps towards me. “I could cancel my plans of showing up at the party since you're here, you know? You could have all the things you crave to get from Xavier and more…” He paused, and if the human eyes could rip-off every piece of fabric on someone's skin, that was exactly what Oliver did. I concluded that he was drunk and stood to go to the guest room, where I spent nights like this. He abruptly grabbed my waist, sealing the gap between us with his lips even before I could fight back. With the little chance I got, I slapped him across the cheek and spat in his face. “You're a bastard!” I spat. To my irritation, he chuckled sarcastically in response. “Xavier doesn't love you, but I do. You don't just see it yet. However, I'll be here waiting for you whenever you realise that your knight in shining armour is a lost cause.” Before I could open my mouth to speak, groups of girls in their slutty attire walked in, stealing our attention. Oliver seemed to be expecting them since he held his arms open for one of them. He kissed her passionately, nibbling his way from her cleavage back to her plum lips, as if trying to pass a message to me, while the other girls just draped themselves over him. “Do have a good night, Evelyn,” he winked in my direction after deciding to part his swollen lips from hers. I walked out on all of them even before they could shut the door on their way out. Xavier was being so difficult and his friend was being a usual asshole. Still, that wasn't changing my plan of sleeping over at his place since he would be out all night. I tossed my purse to the chair, locked the door, threw myself on the bed and closed my eyes, refusing to think about what Oliver had said earlier, refusing to imagine how many girls would be throwing themselves at Xavier and refusing to believe that I could never win Xavier over until I fell asleep *** I returned back to Xavier's mansion early enough not to avoid running into Oliver. It was still dark when I got to my room, and for some strange reason, I was getting a call from my mum this early in the morning. “Good morning, mum.” “Good morning, sweetie. I'm sorry if interrupted your sleep. I just want to know when you're coming back home. Your dad can't take any more of my excuses, so it's best if you just abort your mission and come back immediately,” she sounded firm. “Dad is never going to find me anytime soon; besides, he still has a lot of business trips to attend. Just give me a little more time,” I begged, hoping she would understand me. “Your dad just scheduled a flight from Chicago where he's sealing a deal. He'll be in New York sooner than you think, so get your pretty ass back home,” she explained in a more desperate tone, making me sigh out loud. “I'm sorry, mum, but I can't come home now.” “That little boy doesn't worth the fight and you know–” “I won't take another word against Xavier from you, mum,” I scolded her defensively. She was obviously going to be hurt by my rude interruption but it was high time my parents stopped treating me like a two-year-old fairytale princess. “You're just being naive, Ade–” “Evelyn! It's Evelyn, mum. You know what? I appreciate what you're trying to do and everything you've been doing to conceal everything from dad, but we can try this conversation some other time. Xavier hosted a party and the house is already enough mess for me to deal with this morning.” “You never got to stress all your life under our care, but you decided to be a maid for a sick fool who doesn't even realise your worth?!” “He doesn't because I hid my worth from him. No man would accept me because my father's personality is that big and fearfully intimidating! And yes, I'm happy to be his maid since it brings me closer to him. Good bye, mum.” “Can you hear yourself?” I ended the call without waiting to hear anymore of what she was going to say. I wasn't going to call her back either, until I was sure that she felt and understood what I had for Xavier. Cleaning my face and adjusting the cheap fabric I was putting on, I took a deep breath before opening the door. Thankfully, everywhere was still quiet which meant that Xavier was still asleep. Just then, it registered to me that every part of the house needed special attention to erase last night's event from it. I started by putting the glass cups in a tray before heading downstairs to leave them in the kitchen. With each step I took, the faint sounds I was starting to hear became louder. I tried so hard to convince myself that Xavier was still asleep and even if he were awake, he'd be having a hard time trying to recover from all he had to drink last night. However, it didn't sound like it. My whole body was quivering and my lips were trembling from the painful sob that almost escaped it. Someone was obviously making out and of course I didn't live in this house with a ghost. I still went entered the sitting room anyway, grateful that I came right in time before Xavier was able to bury his thick, hard length inside of her. Her thighs were bare and wide open, waiting for her final trip to utmost ecstasy. I could sense the heat emitting from their lustful bodies and it almost felt like I wasn't even there. I let the tray slip from my shaky hands, enabling the chattering sounds of the fragile wares to bring them back to reality. “You filthy b***h!” Xavier cussed in anger while Katherine only arched her back and pulled his stiffened length closer to her core. ‘Was she really that desperate?’ I whispered to myself in disgust. My heart was pounding faster than it was a few seconds ago. Probably because I was sure that Xavier would burn me alive for interrupting his morning session. Regardless, I let the small smile of victory creep into my face when he tossed Katherine's leg to the side, before making his way to me. His black leather belt was carefully wrapped around his hand to torture me like he always does, but I didn't mind. As long successfully ruined their sinful bliss, I didn't mind at all.
