Chapter 4: Banished?

479 Words
Matt: “Don’t touch me.” Abby growled through her tears. Surprised, I pulled back to look at her. She curled up on the floor and sobbed.  “Please, Abby.” I whispered. All I wanted to do was hold her and comfort her. What did that look like now? I got up and went back to the couch. It was the only way I could think of giving her space and not leaving her alone. She might not be my mate, but she was my best friend and a valued member of my pack. I didn’t want to leave her alone. My wolf wasn’t helping matters. He was uncomfortably silent. Almost indifferent to the situation. Which just made me feel worse. f**k, I hated feeling guilty.  She cried and cried. Finally, I pulled out my Alpha voice. “Abby. Stop crying and sit up.” I commanded. She whimpered, but did as she was told. She even got up off the floor and sat down on the plush chaise in the corner. I took a breath, “I know this isn’t what we wanted. Either of us. You will take the rest of the day to do as you wish. And then tomorrow you can pack your things and Beta Dillon will take you on the jet up to the Iron Moon Pack.” Abby’s ice-blue eyes flared with anger. “You’re banishing me?” She whispered dangerously low. “No! NO. I’m giving you the opportunity to try a new place. You’ll stay for the summer. If, at the end of the summer, you still want to come home, the pack will welcome you back with open arms.” I said. Dropping my voice and softening my eyes, I whispered, “You need to heal so you can move on from this disappointment.” “Disappointment? You think this is me being disappointed? Do you not know me?” Abby said, getting louder and louder. “I’M f*****g HEARTBROKEN, MATT.” I winced and she continued, “If this is what you want, fine. But I’m not leaving tomorrow with my tail between my legs. I will stay until after the Winter Moon Pack visit in two weeks. I will not f*****g have people talking about me being sent away when it turned out I wasn’t your Luna.” “This is agreeable.” I sighed and stood up. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” And I walked out without looking back. Once I got to the car that was waiting for me, I called Nick, the Alpha of Iron Moon. “Hey man,” I said when he answered, “my pack member is going to be a little later getting up there.” “No problem,” Nick muttered on the other end of the phone. “We’ll see her when we see her.”
