Adrian came through the portal alone. I’m not sure why that surprised me, but it did. We shook hands and I motioned for Adrian to sit. We were in an unoccupied waiting room in the private wing of the hospital where Abby would have the transfusion.
“Thank you for taking the time to come.” I said, once we had sat down. Adrian was across from me, Nolan to my right. Wyatt was stationed just out of sight in the hall. Close enough to listen, but also able to redirect anyone that might happen along.
“You’re welcome.” Adrian replied, leaning back in his chair. He looked a lot like Abby with light red hair, although he had streaks of white. They had the same nose. “Makes it easy when you have a portal. I must admit, I was surprised to receive your call.”
