The air seemed to thicken as Rose processed his words. Her auburn eyes widened, and she took a small step back, her dress brushing against the glowing grass. Jack, still trembling, pressed closer to her legs, his tiny body radiating fear.
"A... a long nap?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. Her mind raced, trying to make sense of the towering figure before her. His presence was overwhelming, his deep hazel eyes piercing through her like he could see every thought, but she shakes her heading feeling like that's just an illusion. Looking at the grass and peeping to look at Xavier she could not find words so, bowing deeply "I am sorry for disturbing your nap sir".
Xavier tilted his head slightly, his dark hair shimmering under the strange light of the forest. He took a step forward, his movements deliberate, almost predatory, yet there was a curiosity in his gaze that softened the edge of his intimidating aura. Making Rose confused by him with no fear in her eyes she peeps at him from her bowing head with curiosity.
"Yes," he said his voice rumbling like distant thunder. "A very long nap, and you, little lamb, have disturbed it." Rose swallowed hard, her throat dry. She glanced down at Jack, who was now hiding behind her, his tiny body shaking uncontrollably. She could feel the weight of Xavier's gaze on her, and it made her skin prickle with unease. But despite his deep gaze, she keeps her head bowed though trembling slightly which he finds unpleasing to the eyes, "i... i didn’t mean to," she stammered, her voice trembling. "I was just trying to find my dog. He ran off, and i-"
"Your dog," Xavier interrupted, his eyes flicking to Jack for a moment before returning to her. "He’s a brave little creature. Not many would dare to approach me, let alone a small, trembling pup." The small glance made jack whimper in fear behind her. Rose’s heart pounded in her chest. She didn’t know what to say because as small as jack is he is the biggest pup she knows. The forest around them seemed to hold its breath, the usual whispers of the wind and the rustling leaves now eerily silent. Even the glowing orbs of light that had danced through the air earlier seemed to hover in place, as if waiting for something to happen.
Xavier took another step closer, and Rose instinctively took a step back, her foot catching on a root. She stumbled, but before she could fall, Xavier’s hand shot out, catching her arm with surprising gentleness. His touch was warm, almost comforting, but it sent a shiver down her spine making her feel Goosebumps.
"Careful," he murmured, his voice low. "The forest can be... unpredictable."
Rose’s breath hitched as she looked up at him, her eyes wide with a light and eagerness to know more and something else she couldn’t quite place when she looks at his eyes. His grip on her arm was firm but not painful, and for a moment, she felt a strange sense of safety, despite the danger she knew he represented.
"Th-thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Xavier’s lips curved into a faint smile, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. "You’re an interesting one, little lamb," he said, releasing her arm and taking a step back. "Most would have run by now."
Rose straightened, brushing her dress nervously. "I... I don’t have anywhere to run," she admitted, her voice trembling. "I don’t even know where I am." "And you don't look dangerous" she mutters the last sentence to herself not knowing he can hear. His heart pounded, his wolf asking him if it she could be.
Xavier’s gaze flicked softened slightly, and he tilted his head, studying her with a newfound curiosity. "You’ve crossed into a world that few humans ever see," he said. "A world that exists alongside yours hidden from innocent eyes."
Rose’s heart skipped a beat. "A... another world?" she echoed, her voice barely a whisper.
Xavier nodded his expression unreadable. "Yes. And now that you’re here, there’s no going back". He paused the muttered "Not easily, at least."
Rose’s mind raced, trying to process his words. Another world? Hidden from mortal eyes? It sounded like something out of a fairy tale, but the evidence was all around her—the shimmering trees, the glowing ground, the strange, otherworldly beauty of it all. And then there was Xavier himself, a man that is so mysterious than any man from the village.
"What... what do you mean, no going back?" she asked, hcrackice trembling.
Xavier’s gaze hardened, and he took a step closer, his presence once again overwhelmincrackhis world has its own rules, little lamb only the strong and powerful can leave well.
Rose’s heart sank, and she felt a lump form in her throat. "But... but I have to go back," she said, her voice breaking. "My mother... she’ll be worried. She’ll—"
"Your mother," Xavier interrupted, his tone sharp, "is the least of your concerns now."
Rose’s eyes filled with tears, and she bit her lip to keep from crying. She felt so small, so helpless in the face of this strange, powerful being. But deep down, a spark of defiance ignited within her. She couldn’t just give up. She had to find a way back, no matter what. Giving Jack a glance blaming him from dragging her in her and also urging him to sniff the way back to where they came from.
Xavier watched her closely, his expression unreadable. Then, to her surprise, he sighed and took a step back, his posture relaxing slightly.
"Come," he said, his voice softer now. "I’ll take you to somewhere first, glancing at her bleeding leg. Rose hesitated, glancing down at Jack, who was still trembling at her feet. "What about Jack?" her voice small.
Xavier’s lips twitched into a faint smile. "Your little protector can come too," he said. "But he’ll have to keep up."
With that, Xavier turned and began to walk deeper into the forest, his dark long hair shimmering in the strange light. Rose hesitated for a moment, and then bent down to pick up Jack, cradling him in her arms. The little dog whined softly, but she shushed him gently, her heart pounding in her chest feeling unease.
Taking a deep breath, she followed Xavier into the unknown, the glowing forest closing in around them as they ventured deeper into this strange, tranquility. With everything feeling unreal they got to a stream. Looking at the man who stopped walking and not saying anything, 'why are we here?" "Deep your leg", he pointed at her injured leg and then the stream. "Deep your leg into the stream. This is a purifying stream, it purifies injuries".
