Rose blinked, her auburn eyes widening in surprise as she glanced down at the crystal-clear stream. The water shimmered with a glow, its surface rippling gently as if alive. She hesitated, clutching Jack tighter in her arms. The little dog whined softly, his warm body trembling against her chest.
"Purifying stream?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. She looked up at Xavier, her expression a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. "Is it... safe?"
Xavier’s lips twitched into a faint smile, though his deep hazel eyes remained unreadable. "Safer than leaving that wound untreated," he said, his voice low and smooth. "The stream will do as it's named."
Rose swallowed hard, her throat dry. She glanced down at her ankle, where the blood had begun to dry, staining her skin and the hem of her dress. The sting had dulled to a throbbing ache, but she knew it needed attention. Taking a deep breath, she carefully set Jack down on the soft grass beside her. The little dog whimpered but stayed close, his dark eyes watching her intently.
Kneeling by the stream, Rose hesitated for a moment before lifting the hem of her dress and dipping her injured leg into the water. The moment her skin touched the surface, a warm, tingling sensation spread through her, starting from her ankle and radiating up her leg. She gasped, her eyes widening as the water seemed to come alive, swirling around her wound in gentle, glowing currents.
"It’s... it’s warm," she murmured, her voice filled with awe. The pain in her ankle began to fade, replaced by a soothing, almost euphoric sensation. She watched in amazement as the cut on her ankle began to close, the skin knitting itself back together as if by a magic thread. The blood washed away, leaving no trace of the injury behind.
Xavier watched her silently, his arms crossed over his chest. His expression was unreadable, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes that he couldn't gasps . He tilted his head slightly, studying her reaction as if she were a puzzle he was trying to solve.
Rose pulled her leg out of the water, her breath catching as she examined her ankle. The wound was completely gone, not even a scar remaining. She ran her fingers over the smooth skin, her heart pounding with a mix of relief and disbelief.
"It’s... it’s healed," she whispered, her voice trembling. She looked up at Xavier, her eyes wide with wonder. "How is this possible?"
Xavier’s lips curved into a faint smile, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. "This forest is full of wonders, little lamb," he said, his voice low and smooth.
Rose nodded slowly, her mind still reeling from what had just happened. She glanced down at Jack, who was now sniffing at the edge of the stream, his tail wagging tentatively. The little dog seemed to have calmed down, his fear replaced by curiosity, that it almost slipped into the stream. Taking it into her arms, she taps it's heard scolding it "naughty". That small action didn't escape Xavier's eyes, he felt that action should have been for him. Shaking his head, he wonders why he has such thoughts.
"Thank you," she said softly, her voice filled with gratitude. She looked up at Xavier, her auburn eyes meeting his deep hazel gaze. "For, helping me."
Xavier’s expression softened slightly and he gave a small nod. "Don’t thank me. I should thank you for waking me. This would do."
"Okay". Rose hesitated for a moment, and then stood up, brushing off her dress. She glanced down at Jack in her arms, which looked up at her with his big, dark eyes. Taking a deep breath, she looks at Xavier, "I should be going before my mother gets worried. Thank you for helping me with my injured leg".
After saying that she walks in the same direction they came from to leave the forest. The forest still with no crimping from the birds and greetings from the tree, everywhere beautiful yet something felt off. She kept walking until she passed the place she got injured. Not realizing she's being followed by Xavier, she looks down at Jack and started to reprimand it "look at how late we are, mother must be worried. We even met with a strange man though he is nice. What if it was an animal that wanted to eat you? Don't go running off again." Finishing that statement, they got to the entrance where they came into the forest from.
Looking at what looks like a wall, she stretch's her hand to touch it. And that light touch caused a c***k to appear on the barrier, pulling her hand back, not realizing her hand got pricked. Looking at the small c***k which started growing rapidly to every side of the barrier like a broking glass, it paused and started to crumbling falling like lights that dissolves into air. The scenery was so beautiful until the face of a slim lady with a dark face looking straight at her appeared. "Mo… mother" Rose stammers. Xavier hides himself from the sight of both of them, Jark trembles as though it was winter.
Rose’s heart leapt into her throat as she stared at the figure before her. Her mother’s face was pale, her dark eyes wide with a mixture of shock and fury. The air around them seemed to grow heavier, the forest itself holding its breath as the barrier crumbled into shimmering fragments of light that dissolved into the air.
"Rose," her mother said, her voice low and trembling with barely contained anger. "What have you done?"
Rose’s mouth opened, but no words came out. She clutched Jack tighter to her chest, the little dog trembling violently against her, struggling like it's looking for a way to escape, as though sensing danger.
As if waking her up from a daze, "mother it's Jark, he ran into the barrier and I had to get in to bring him out..."
