I was pacing the room when Laura finally walked in. Even with the windows opened, and the A.C. on, sweat was dripping down my face. this was the first thing Laura noticed as she walked in. "You should take a bath after visiting the gym," she said as a way of greeting before making her way to the fridge in the kitchen. as was her tradition, she poured herself a glass of cold water, downed it in two gulps, and then began foraging the fridge for anything that could pass as dinner. Laura worked as a P.A for one of the executives at work. staring that with her dislike for work and you realize just how much dependence she has on me when it comes to feeding. But i didnt mind. Having a room mate was the best thign I could ask for and she wasn't nosy enough to make me worried. "I leave this lovely place," I responded, gesturing to the two-bedroom apartment we called home. "as early as seven each day. And you don't see my pretty ass until seven P.M. Where do you think I've got the time to go to the gym?" She doesn't respond and I continue pacing, slipping into my mind once more where my plans are nearly being finalized. "Don't tell me you have a hot guy over. That'd be new. And progress, of course. But still new." The mention of a guy being over made me stop walking. I didn't want to talk about what happened at Tongues today. But this was Laura. she knew everything. with my back turned to her, I asked softly, "You've heard about it?" Laura was silent for a moment and I wondered if she'd slipped into the bathroom when I wasn't looking. "I have. I dont know if it's something you wish to talk about," she responded. a heavy breath lets loose from my lips. I shook my head slowly, the weight of the afternoon's events, a constant headache as it seemed everyone in the company had heard of it, threatened to flatten me. "But there's something I want to talk to you about," I said quietly. I wasn't afraid. it was something I had thought up, rearranged and made corrections on. It was perfect -- if i was to say so. And it would need someone with looks that'll make Poseidon abandon the ocean. My person for the job was Laura. with her hips that were experts at drawing attention; but that, if I hadn't been her friend, I'd have sworn were surgical; those puppy eyes that always got her what she wanted; and her ability to slip into the character of a slutty woman whenever she wanted to, she was perfect for this. Yet, my vice wavered. He embarrassed me in front of the entire company and I wavered. "What is it?" I hear distantly, the words pulling me back to reality. "I have to bathe. Is it something that can wait?" No! It can't wait! I need you to listen to this and agree with me. "Sure. You should bathe. Seems you had a long day. I'll order pizza while you're at it." a grin slashed through her features. "See? that's why I love you the most in the whole world!" Inspite of everything going, I managed a laugh and went to order pizza as I had promised. First, I'd bathe, and then we'd talk about the plan while eating. *** "What?!" Laura yelled as the pizza slice she was about to eat slipped out of her lips. "You're joking rihgt? Tell me you're joking.!" we were sitting on the couch, the TV, AGT showing. But neitther of us were truly into what was showing. There was much to do and talk about. Since coming out of the restroom, we'd been discussing my plan and her reaction to it was not even surprising. After all, this was Xavier we were talking about. To mess with him would mean to mess with fire hotter than Hell could dream of conjuring. But i could also tell that she was already in. a little more convicig and she'd be good as sold. "I wish I were," I responded with that air of disinterest. "But her had it coming. Besides, I'm not just doing this for me. I'm doing it for all the many girls he's used the way and dumped after. Just think of how he'd feel after. God, I can't wait to see his face." "You hate him that much?" was all Laura said after swallowing the food in her throat. "Yes," I responsed in a cold voice that scared even me. "But that's not the only thing. You get to gain from this." laura stares at me from underneath her lashes and I knew she was sold. She was in. The plan was a go but she didn't want to accept it yet. "How so?" I shrugged as though it eas a given, something she should have worked out. "Xavier is rich and he loves to throw his money around. Become his new centre of attraction and he'd buy you so many things, you'd need to lend my closet for them to fit in Plus, you also know that even though he was said to be a playboy, you got the Xavier Emerson to his knees begging you to take him." Laura says nothing for a moment, focusing on the guy doing card tricks on the show. I use the opportunity to take another look at her. she's in her traditional shorts, her long, golden hair left in a ponytail, and her boobs pushing at the white T-shirt she has on. One of the first things I got to know when we moved in was her dislike for bras. But looking at her now, her bod in the soft light of the room, her skin, smooth and radiant, I couldnt deny it -- Laura was built to turn heads. "What do you gain from all of this?" she asked suffenly, her eyes still stuck on the TV. "Nothing," I responded quickly. Those puppy eyes fall on me and I know she's sniffed the lie. "I get to see him suffer. To see him heartbroken like I was and wish the world could swallow him up. I see him wish he'd taken a different route the day you guys met," again, Laura says nothing, staring at the TV screen like it was her future self that was performing, even though magic tricks were things she passionately disliked. "Okay, I'll do it," she said finally. I'll do this crazy thing of yours. Let's see how it goes." I trashed the squeal threatening to find its way out of my lungs. I wouldn't show how excited I was. Just my anger. Well, Xavier, hope you're ready for pain?
