I stayed awake as Carly drifted off to sleep next to me. I couldn't get my mind off of what had just happened. She was far enough along in her pregnancy that it answered the underlying question we'd had about if the baby was mine or not. She had already been pregnant before she was kidnapped and r***d, which both made me feel better and angry at the same time because she'd gone through all of that stress while she was carrying my child. Now we know that it was mine, though, and even though I was happy before, I'm even more glad about that fact.
She was also already a supernatural being, a royal witch no less, and that meant that she really didn't have to change into a vampire unless she chose not to practice magic. She could be like Carlotta, who was much older than she looked,
