The Search

1558 Words
Anne visited Major's Corps the following day in search of Juliand. She had forgotten to collect his number last night and she didn't also know his name which made her search more difficult. On her arrival, she bumped into Mr. Clarkson who was about to leave for an event. He extended an unexpected invitation for her to accompany him as his guest. Anne couldn't turn down the offer and forfeited her search, following Mr. Clarkson to the event. On their way to the event, Mr. Clarkson inquired about her visit. “Haven't seen you here since Lauren’s disappearance.” Anne explained her reasons and Mr. Clarkson was stunned. “Impressive, you're tracking a guy that rescued you last night. Guess you didn't get his number ?” “Tell me, what's your mystery hero name?” Mr. Clarkson chuckled, trying to tease her. “I still didn't get that. Everything happened so quickly, I didn't notice I missed that crucial detail. It wasn't until later, when I got home, I realized I had no way to contact him.” Anne said, shaking her head. Mr. Clarkson was bewildered that she couldn't also get his name. However she recalls him saying he recently got employed at Major's Corps and has been working overtime to enable him to attain higher positions. Anne shared the few details she remembered about her mystery hero. Mr. Clarkson assured her, “I’ll keep my ears to the ground and see if anyone fits in your description.” They arrived at the venue and Anne was struck by the event's grandeur. She spent the evening engaging with distinguished guests, including ambassadors and business CEOs. When the night wrapped up, Mr. Clarkson ordered his driver to take her home. As days went by, Anne realized it would be impossible to find Juliand in the vast company since she knew nothing about him. She shifted her focus, opting to take the subway more often after work, holding onto a possibility that they might cross paths again. After a week of subway commute, Anne's optimism waned as her efforts were fruitless. She eventually abandoned her search for Juliand, accepting the fact that fate might not reunite them. Meanwhile, Mr. Clarkson has been able to identify her mystery hero, Juliand. He continued observing him from a distance but he forgot to inform Anne about the breakthrough. Juliand was consistent and diligent in his work. He was dedicated to his work, one might think he lost sight of his agenda. His exceptional performance caught Mr. Clarkson's attention, leading him to a promotion offer. The promotion was a stepping stone for Juliand. But he wasn't satisfied with it, so he sought higher positions. He returned to his routine of working overtime, determined to gain Mr. Clarkson's trust. Despite his effort, Juliand's mission to uncover Lauren's location was futile as no one in the company had information regarding her whereabouts. He fell back to his plan of waiting for her return. Lauren, who was isolated from the world. She had voluntarily exiled herself to a remote island. Though the island isolation provided a balm to her weary soul, she was still struggling with her pregnancy. The burden was more than she imagined. Yet, she persevered, the life within her a beacon of hope. She discreetly acquired a house with the help of her maid, to prevent her name from appearing in public records. The maid was the only loose end Lauren couldn't circumvent. Fortunately, the maid had remained loyal and trustworthy, keeping Lauren's identity confidential. Lauren had made significant effort in overcoming her addiction, fueled by determination to create a better life for her unborn child. She actively participated in a support group to enhance her growth and recovery. However, financial constraints loomed and she was eager to deliver her child before returning home. She wanted to provide stability for her child. Lauren was consistent with her monthly prenatal care checkups, monitoring her health and her baby’s progress. During one of her appointments, she discovered she was having a daughter. She was filled with joy and pride at the thought of raising a strong girl. But her joy was short lived as harsh reality set in. She needed to return home, thereby leaving her baby girl behind. Lauren had gone out shopping with her maid at the local mall. As they shopped, Lauren suddenly felt dizzy and disoriented, deciding to head to the car to rest while the maid finished shopping. But in her weary state, she failed to notice a reversing car at the parking lot. The car struck her, sending her to the ground, her head hitting the pavement. She lay motionless, unconscious. Panic erupted around her as witnesses rushed to her aid, calling 911. Within minutes, paramedics arrived, carefully loading Lauren into the ambulance. They sped up towards the hospital, fighting against time to save her and her baby. Fortunately, with the swifted and skilled effort of the medical team, Lauren and her baby were both saved. Though her child had to be delivered premature and put in the incubator. Lauren was overwhelmed with gratitude, and was happy that they both survived and were in good condition. Throughout the ordeal, her maid remained steadfast by her side, providing comfort, support and care. Major's Corps hosted an event, bringing in influential figures. Anne attended as a guest of honor, courtesy of Mr. Clarkson's thoughtful invitation. As fate would have it, Juliand was also in attendance and their path finally crossed. They complimented each other and chatted during the event. They exchanged numbers and before parting ways, decided to meet again. True to their words, they met again three days later at a cafe. As Anne arrived, slightly late, Juliand teased, “I thought you were going to stand me up.” Anne apologized while taking her seat. “Sorry I'm late.” “I'm thrilled to finally be on a date with my hero!” Anne exclaimed, breaking the ice. Juliand gave a weak smile and Anne continued, “ I had lost hope of seeing you again. I spent days searching for you but it seemed like a futile effort.” Juliand's curiosity was piqued. “I’m sorry to put you through that stress,” he said with a chuckle. “But seriously, why did you search for me? Were you planning to reward me or something?” “Nah, I just wanted to thank you properly.” Anne answered, her eyes filled with mischief. Their orders arrived and they savored their meals and got lost in their conversation. As the night drew closer, Juliand suggested they take a leisurely stroll but Anne countered with an intriguing offer. “How about you come home with me instead?” Her inviting tone caught Juliand off guard. He hesitated, unsure of her intentions. “I just want to express my gratitude and you'll get your reward.” Anne said with a sultry smile. “That's a tempting offer, I'm in.” Juliand answered. They walked to Anne's car and she expertly navigated the road, arriving at her home in under thirty minutes. Juliand was impressed by her skillful driving. “Damn, you're quite the driver. Who taught you how to drive?” Juliand said, breaking the silence. Anne chuckled, parking the car. “My mom. I have other hidden talents as well.” As they settled in, Anne invited Juliand to make himself comfortable while she retrieved a bottle of wine and two glasses. Their conversation flowed effortlessly as they sipped the wine. The smooth taste of the wine slowly dissolved their inhibitions, giving way to their desires. As the night wore on, Juliand struggled to maintain his composure, his eyes locked unto Anne's. She waited patiently, her gaze inviting him to make the first move. The room was filled with anticipation, the silence between them, thick and palpable. Their unspoken feelings hung in the air, a tantalizing promise. Juliand mustered his courage, reaching out to gently grasp Anne's hand. He pulled her closer, their bodies inches apart. “Why did you invite me over,” he whispered, his warm breath tickling her ear. Anne's expression turned playful, her voice low and sultry. “Still talking?” She teased. “Are you hesitating to take action?” With a smile, she bridged the gap between them, her lips inches away from Juliand's. Her fingers tracing his jawline, she pulled him into a soft, inviting kiss. Juliand's reservation vanished, swept away by Anne's captivating touch. Their lips met in a fervent, deep kiss, as their bodies entwined, igniting an intense passion. Anne's fingers unbuttoned his shirts, revealing his chiseled chest. Her hands roamed, tracing the defined contours of his abdomen. Meanline, Juliand's hand slid up Anne's thighs, gently lifting her gown. The fabric glided upwards, exposing her silky skin. As the gown pulled around her waist, Juliand's fingers brushed against her lace underwear. At the peak of their encounter, Anne's phone rang, disrupting the moment. She ignored it, focusing on Juliand's touch. But the phone rang again, insistently. “I'm sorry for this interruption,” Anne whispered, reluctantly pulling away. “Let me turn off the phone.” As Anne reached for her phone, she was surprised by the caller, it was Lauren. She hesitated to pick up, unsure of what to expect.
