Chapter 24Mondo crouched to one knee at Seifer’s door. Carter anxiously stood nearby. He cupped his ears to block out the fire alarm.
“Do you know how to pick a lock?” he asked.
“No, but the Internet does,” replied Mondo. He struggled with it.
Tina stepped in and pushed Mondo’s hands out of the way. She slid a key into the lock. She turned it and then opened the door. Mondo looked at her in shock.
“Why didn’t you say you had a key?” asked Mondo.
“I didn’t think it would matter. It’s a spare behind the counter for emergencies. I didn’t want to use it in broad daylight in front of everybody, obviously. But I figured it doesn’t matter now since you went through all this insanity.”
“Oh. We should really keep you in the loop more.”
“Yeah, you really should.”
