Chapter 22“We are live in sixty seconds, people!” The floor director called out her warning in the middle of the bustling newsroom studio. Camera operators double-checked their equipment. Assistants stood off to the side with tightly-held clipboards. The news anchors anxiously shuffled their papers. The show producer made quiet final remarks to them before putting his cell phone up to his ear. “Okay, the anchors are set,” he said into the phone. “Just treat it like any everyday segment. Don’t stop unless we tell you otherwise. We’ll cut to you soon. Be ready, be focused.” He ended the call. “Thirty seconds!” called the floor director.
