Chapter 10It felt like falling. Darkness surrounded Carter. He couldn’t see his hands in front of him or the rest of his body. He wasn’t sure if he was blind, dreaming, unconscious, comatose, or worse. He remembered the blast from the Interceptor knocking him backward. The falling sensation continued as if he were dropped into a bottomless pit, falling through an endless vacuum. The crushing void of darkness was overwhelming. He felt so alone. A glimmer of light appeared like a faraway star. He made swimming motions toward it. He couldn’t see himself in the dark, but he still felt ridiculous as he flailed his limbs trying to move through the rushing nothingness, if that’s what you could call this.
