It's been exactly a week I've been avoiding Ash. I couldn't look him in the eyes after the embarrassing incident. I scurried off to one of the school's cafeteria after spotting Ash with a group of friends in front of a lecture room.
"Mel." I heard from a distance.
Only someone calls me that. What the f**k was he doing here? I turned towards the voice almost immediately.
"Why are you here?" I asked surprised.
"I came because I knew I could possibly see you."
"Are you telling me you came all the way from LA so you could possibly see me?"
"You weren't even sure you'd see me. Are you making any sense at all?"
"Mel, I think you should hear me out. I've got some explaining to do."
"You should quit explaining Liam, you've done enough!"
"Liam, we should sit somewhere first while waiting." Hailey walked towards us with two soda.
She froze when she spotted me.
"You never would stop being a dog, would you? Always tagging along wherever people went to." I said to Hailey.
"He followed me here, b***h!" she countered.
"Because he wanted to see me dumbass." I spat.
"You think he would?" she asked while laughing.
I turned to the lying cheat and expected him to to say a word just so he could prove her wrong but he said nothing. Of course, he wouldn't. How could I expect more?
"You're just a motherfucking w***e!" I said and turned to leave.
She grabbed a fistful of my hair and screamed at me.
"Don't you dare call me a w***e when you're equally a lying bitch."
"Because he totally lost interest in you and came to me instead doesn't make me a w***e!" She continued.
I scoffed and turned to grab her by the hair also. I pulled her hair with one hand and slapped her hard across the face with the other.
This angered her and she kneed me hard in the stomach causing me to fall.
Fuck! This girl sure had a lot of strength. How?
Well, she never got into a fight while we were friends. She was always crawling at my feet since middle school and followed me around. I expected her to do the same now. Beg me till I forgave her for stealing my boyfriend but she's doing quite the opposite.
Liam stood there watching us wrestle with each other and was cursing under his breath.
I scoffed seeing he wasn't ready to put an end to our fight.
I swear if this moron does nothing then I'm so screwed because Hailey was definitely going to beat the hell outta me at this rate.
Hailey was on top of me and I was struggling so hard and panting.
A mental note, I am never getting into a fight again.
I managed to land a few punches on her face and she screamed pulling my hair more.
I might as well lose my head at this rate. But I'd never let this b***h think she won.
I bit her hand with all the power left in me. She cried in agony and raised her hand to hit me and I didn't need anyone to tell me this was the end. I knew.
Imma just close my eyes and wait for the resounding slap that's leading me to heaven.
When I felt nothing but heard screams and struggling instead, I opened one eye gently.
Liam held her hands and she was struggling under his grip.
Great! He finally found the moment to interfere.
"Let me kill the b***h!" Hailey screamed still struggling in his grip.
"Hailey, you've caused enough trouble, let's just leave." Liam said back.
I picked my bag on the floor and out of annoyance I walked over to her and slammed the bag hard across her right cheek. It was as if Liam also wanted that because he wasn't letting go of her hand. I switched spots and continued to slam the bag across both of her cheek repeatedly until a strong hand gripped me by my wrist.
"That's enough." he said.
I was panting heavily and kicked her one last time before turning around to leave. I took few steps and then realisation hit me. Ashton was the one who stopped me.
I hurried to leave so as not to come face to face with him.
Shit! s**t! s**t! Why am I so f****d?
"Amelia, wait up."
"Are you sure you can walk?" I heard him ask, his voice laced with mockery.
Fuck him!
He met up with me and scowled at me.
"What?" I asked, eyeing him angrily.
"It's not like you've never seen a fight before"
"Well, not this type." He replied.
"How much did you see?" I asked.
"Enough to conclude you were beaten."
"I wasn't beaten, it's the other way round."
"Yeah, I see." he said, holding back a smile.
"Your hair's in a mess." he demonstrated using his hands.
"Oh thanks." I said using my hands to smoothen the strands I was sure were now flying.
"Let me help you." He said awkwardly.
"O..okay" I replied nervously.
It's just my hair fgs, what is this nervousness?
He pulled the little bond holding my hair in a ponytail and tied it back after struggling with setting my hair straight and smooth.
"Done." he said, fidgeting.
Ashton was fidgeting? I smiled to myself. The situation was awkward enough, I couldn't be laughing now even though I wanted to so bad.
We passed by a mirror and I turned to look at myself.
"What!" I screamed in disgust.
"What the hell did you do to my hair?" I tried sounding calm but I was failing miserably.
"I helped you with it." He simply said.
"You call this help? My hair couldn't have been worse than this."
This was bad honestly.
"You told me you were done fixing my hair!"
"I didn't tell you I was able to fix the mess." he said back.
"Why did you offer to help when you knew you couldn't do it?" I yelled.
"I never knew tying hair could be so difficult."
"Just shut your mouth and never offer to help me with anything!"
"One of the reasons you got beaten." he clapped back.
I was about to argue back when he cut me short.
"Why did you get in a fight with Stacy's sister by the way?"
"Stacy's sister?"
"Yes, Hailey."
What? How could they be sisters?
Ohh, I remember Hailey telling me she had a step sister who stayed in California. It was Stacy all along?
"The same blood runs through them." I said finally.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Never mind"
"Be happy her boyfriend chose to save you instead You should thank him if you get to see him again."
I scoffed. "Just shut up if you don't know anything."
"You should tell me then." he said.
"I don't want to." I shot back.
"Are you sure you don't need to confide in me? I'm the only friend you've got, yunno?"
"Shut your mouth!"
He stopped abruptly. I ignored him and walked forward.
He grabbed me by my wrist, twirled me around and pulled me towards him.
My face came in contact with his hard chest and he looked down at my face.
"It's high time you stopped talking to me that way, cupcake."
He leaned in and I froze.
