Chapter 5

Riley Boys are really easy, they fall for pretty ladies, they get seduce just by touch, and they could open their lips and kiss any lady whenever they are horny, even when they don’t like them or feel any attraction for them, they just want to release and move to the next. I glanced at Carl, his gaze narrowed. I could see his patience wearing thin. I lowered my gaze just when it was becoming silently awkward. Nora chuckled to break the ice. “I’m sure you are very… confident.” She pressed down her lips in a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. I frowned when she traced Carl’s forearm with her red nails. He wasn’t stopping her. He wants me to behave, but he was letting her do that to him at my watch. I held Carl’s gaze, and parted my lips. “I’ve learned confidence gets you what you want.” If Nora wasn’t confident enough, she wouldn’t be touching him like that right in front of me. “Riley,” Carl’s eyes darkened. “Enough.” He said icily, the smiles he always had when he looked at me had completely vanished into a cold warning expression. This was good. I want him to see me more as a woman than just a teenager under his care. I pushed my chair back. “Sure, I am done anyway.” “Excuse me?” Nora blinked, her eyes darting to my plate. “You didn’t even take a bite.” I had chopped the chicken into smaller pieces but didn’t eat it, how could I when they were displaying that… “I’m not hungry,” I said, licking the tomato juice from my fingers deliberately, my eyes on Carl’s who squinted, his brows creased. I stood up and trailed my fingertips slowly across Carl’s shoulder as I passed behind him, whispering. “Dinner was… tolerable.” Carl quickly grabbed my wrist before I would walk away and I gasped. “I will be right back, Nora.” He excused himself, dragging me along with him, a smile spread through my lips even if his grip were tight. Now where has the gentle Carl who acts soft around me gone? He stopped when we were out of Nora’s line of sight. “What do you think you are doing, Nora?” He asked, furrowing his brows. I smirked recalling how he had looked at me earlier when I licked my finger. I didn’t know much about Carl, we have been five years apart, but I had heard a little conversation when I was twelve, my father had advised him to settle down with someone rather than fooling around with multiple ladies. I didn’t know the full meaning of what it meant then, but seeing him with Nora earlier, how he kissed her, it made me wet, it made me want to feel every bit of his touch, even if it was just for a day. If he had noticed my signals, then there was no turning back now. I leaned in close, pressing my chest into his arms. “I am trying to get your attention.” His eyes burned and he pulled me away. “You are playing a…” “And you are pretending you don’t want to play it too.” I interrupted him before he completed his sentence. I held his gaze, deciding not to pretend anymore, I have just three months, three months to get Carl to like me, if I don’t act now, I might lose him to Nora. Carl dropped my wrist like it burned him. “Go change.” He looked away from my eyes. “In what?” I asked, smiling, I had worn a bum short and sleeveless top with no bra on purpose. “This is my normal outfit.” He groaned, and walked back to the dining table without answering. I ran my hand through my hair in frustration. Is he going to keep ignoring me when I have only just started? I took a long bath, leaving the shared bathroom partly open, just enough for Carl to peek in when he walk pass it. The bathroom was in-between his room and mine. Steams clung to the mirror as I stepped out of the water, water dripping from by skin, I grabbed my towel, wrapping it around myself loosely, leaving one shoulder naked. My inner goddess imagined Carl walking past the bathroom, and glancing in to see me. I smirked at my image on the mirror. Would he stop? Would he press me against the wall, kiss me fiercely and finally admit it? Or would he pretend again? Leaving the bathroom, I glanced around, Carl was not in sight, I sighed in disappointment and went into my room to change. If he wouldn’t touch me, I would make damn sure he would think about it every time he touched Nora. I waited patiently in my room, staring at the clock, it was past nine in the evening and I was wondering if Nora had finally left, I had listened in for any sound of her, but there was none and it didn’t look like Carl had come up yet. I dropped my pen, I was too distracted to focus on my school work, so I left the room, heading downstairs, I glanced around, there was no Nora, and yet no Carl, but soon I heard sound coming from the kitchen and a smile spread through my lips. He is there. I glanced down at my oversized black T-shirt that barely skimmed the tops of my thighs. I had purposely worn nothing underneath. I drew a sharp breath and walked into the kitchen, I halt when his eyes met mine. He held it briefly before snapping back up, his knuckles turned white around the glass. “Couldn’t sleep?” he asked. “Not really.” I walked past him, opened the fridge, a smile tugged on my lips with an idea, I bent over just enough to expose my upper thigh. “It’s cold.” I lied. “Then go put on some damn pants!” He almost screamed at me. I turned slowly and he averted his gaze, drowning the bottle of water. I opened the cap of the water bottle I held. “Would that make you feel better?” He didn’t answer, he didn’t look at me, but I saw a flash of emotions in his eyes that I could not interpret. “You know what’s funny?” I said, walking over to him. “My mom used to say you were the good one, the one with the principles.” “I am.” “No,” I whispered. “You are the one who kissed me with his eyes the moment I walked into this kitchen.” He dropped the glass, and it shattered. I didn’t flinch. “s**t!” He cursed under his breath and reached for something to clean it up. “Go to your room, Riley.” I nodded, closing the water bottle cap and walking past him. I stopped in the doorway and turned slightly. “You can close your eyes, Carl,” I said softly. “But I will still be the one you see when you open them.”
