Chapter 11

Carl I should have known better, I shouldn’t have looked but my body had moved before my mind could stop it, and now I couldn’t sleep. The image of Riley laying flat on her back, legs parted, one hand between her thighs, the other clenching my shirt as she moaned my name, kept on replaying in my mind. It was my shirt, that silly girl, and seeing me made her arch her hips even more as she moaned my name softly, and slower again. I gasped, I could hear my heart thumping, I felt hot all over. What the hell am I doing? I turned on the air conditioner to cool the room, but my head was spinning with lots of emotions, I swear I saw her biting down her lower lips, I saw the burning desires in her eyes. If she hadn’t been my best friend’s daughter, God knows I would have barged in, torn the clothes she wore off her and make her moan my name louder. I clenched my jaw, she was going too far. I slapped my forehead painful hard, furious with myself. “I can’t let this continue, she needs to stop, or I wouldn’t.” And if I did, God help me… I squeezed my eyes shut, forcing myself to sleep, but I couldn’t. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her flushed cheek, panting in my shirt, legs spread, moaning my name. I went for a quick shower, letting the cool water run down my skin, as if it would help calm the flames in my heart. She was still a child, I am engaged, she knew my fiancée, and I need to distract her, because if I let it go on any longer, I wouldn’t survive it, and I don’t think I would be able to control myself. It was sunrise when I heard her footsteps. She came downstairs late, barefoot, and was glowing like she hadn’t just corrupted every inch of me last night. “Good morning.” She said causally, like nothing had happened. I glanced at her. She wore a loose hoodie that I instantly recognized because it was mine, the same one she had been using last night. “Why do you have that hoodie?” I asked and she glanced down at it. “Oh, this…” she leaned on the dining table, grabbing a glass. “It was cold last night, thought I could warm myself up with it.” My throat tightened. “Go get dressed.” I said, looking away from her. “We are going somewhere.” “Where?” “You will see.” I sipped the coffee I held. “Can’t you just tell me?” “Just get ready.” I muttered without sparing her another glance. “Fine…” she turned and I sneaked a peek at her as she headed upstairs, swaying in her hips that made my fist clench. I grabbed my car keys and headed out of the living room, perhaps later today, I would meet up with Nora and try to relieve myself from these burning desires. Riley looked from the building in front of her, and back to me. “A bookstore, really?” she asked, and I nodded, walking inside without responding, she muttered something under her breath and followed me. “So, what book are we looking for today?” She asked, wandering through the shelves, her fingers brushing past different books like she was touching skin. I stayed behind her, pretending to browse a table of bestsellers, perhaps what I had seen last night had messed with my head, I couldn’t stop watching her out of the corner of my eyes. Or, was it because of the way she dressed? She wore blue skirt that stopped right above her thigh and a tank top that was tight enough to outline everything, from her curvy breast to her flat tummy and thin waist. The small girl I knew had really grown into… I stopped the thoughts before I could finish, fixing my gaze on her face that lit up. She smiled at the poetry section and it made me want to ruin it. “Find something?” I asked, stepping up behind her. She didn’t turn. “I thought you don’t read poetry.” “I don’t,” I said. “Do you?” “Yes.” She pulled a slim book from the shelf and held it out. “You will find this interesting, read this.” She turned to me. I took it, scanning the title. “Milk and Honey?” I glanced at her. Of course, my plan to distract her was a waste. “It’s about hunger,” she whispered, stepping closer, “about what women want and how to satisfy their desire.” I slowly raised my gaze and met hers, a smile curved up in her lips. She squinted, staring from my eyes down to my lips, her face close. I clenched my jaw. “Are you trying to provoke me again?” I asked. “Depends,” she shrugged. “Is it working?” She bit down her lower lips. I want her to stop doing that. How could I make her stop testing me? Her smile broadened and she turned away, swaying her hips as she walked toward the register, I watched her go, tightening my grip on the book. For a moment, I let myself think about what she would look like if I pinned her against the poetry shelf and kissed her until her legs gave out. I shook the thought off my mind immediately and swallowed it down. We bought some books and left. It started raining halfway through the drive home from the bookstore. I glanced at Riley who sat beside me in the passenger seats, her legs were crossed over the other, her skirt riding up, her hair were still damp from the short run through the parking lot. “It’s pouring heavily.” She muttered, staring out through the window. “It would be another cold night today.” She sighed and turned her eyes to me, I didn’t look at her, but I could tell the face she was making. I could imagine what was running through her head. “Do you like when it rains?” She asked suddenly, I glanced at her. Her fingers traced the spine of the book she held. I turned my focus to the road. “It’s something that should keep balance, so I don’t get to like or dislike it.” I responded. “If it shines, it should also rain.” “Rain makes me horny.” She muttered, I almost lost balance, tightening my grip on the steering wheel.
