Chapter 12

Carl I exhaled sharply and cursed under my breath before I turned to Riley. “Riley, this isn’t something you should say suddenly, language please.” I told her. Riley chuckled silently. “Oh, you are an adult and I would be an adult in a week.” She responded. “Whereas, you had seen and heard me last night, it’s no secret what I feel, and you don’t hide yours either.” I closed my eyes momentarily. “Riley, I know it was wrong for you to see me and Nora that day, we should have done that in privacy, but we---“ “You know that’s not what I am talking about.” She interrupted me and I stepped on the brake, the tires screeched and came to a halt. “Riley.” I turned to her with furrowed brows. “I don’t know what you think you are doing, but whatever it is, you should stop now.” She held my gaze briefly and looked away from me. “We are home.” She changed the subject, unfastening her seat belt. “It’s still pouring.” “Riley…” She pushed the door open and was about to step out, but I quickly held her hand. “Hold on, I will get the umbrella from the truck.” I said and turned to open the driver’s door, before I could turn, Riley was already out of the car. “Riley!” I stepped out, but she chuckled, spreading her arms wide as the rain hit our skin. “What are you doing? You will get sick.” I warned her, going around the car to where she was, but she grabbed my hand and sprinted up to the front steps. We were already drenched, the tank top clung to her like a second skin, her n*****s were visible through the fabrics, hard from the cold. I wiped the water from my face and followed her in, trying to keep my eyes above her shoulders, but failed. She turned and looked at me with a smile across her lips, pushing her wet hair from her face. “I didn’t tell you, I love storms.” She said breathlessly. “I…” She slipped before she could continue. I acted out of impulse and caught her, sliding my arms around her waist, I pulled her body toward me, her skin touched mine and my arms trembled at how soft and damp they were, heat course through my vein, my heart thumping loud in my ears. Our eyes met and for a moment, time stood still. Her lips were right next to my face, plump, partly opened like she wanted me to taste them, no, I craved to taste them. Her chest rose and fell, her breathing shallow, and our gaze met, for a moment, I saw a flicker of emotion in her eyes like I was the only man she had ever wanted. I should have let go of her, I should have stepped away, but staring down at her lips felt like the last goddamn thing keeping me alive. “Carl…” She whispered. I was drowning in her scent, her warmth, the pulse at her throat, my hand tightened around her waist and I leaned in. My face inched closer, enough to feel her breath, enough to taste how easy it would be to ruin everything. Enough to taste a child I have watched grown up, a child I have put to bed, a child I have gotten candy, a child entrusted to my care. I pulled back, pushing her away like she had just burned me. “Go changed.” I said, looking away from her, angry with myself, mad at myself, I wish I could beat myself up, I wish I could punch myself multiple times, what the hell do I think I am doing? Why the hell do I have these lustful thoughts engulfing me at each turn? She didn’t leave, she looked at me and then a smile curved up on her lips, too wicked that I could tell the next words that were about to come out of her lips. “Don’t say it, Riley.” I warned, but her lips parted. “You wanted to kiss me, didn’t you?” Fuck! “No, I didn’t.” I said, walking upstairs without another word. I shut my room door behind me and slapped myself multiple time across my face furious at myself, at every part of me that had want to kiss her until she forgot how to speak. The worst part is I still wanted to. I still wanted to taste the rain on her skin, slide my hands under her wet tank top and see if she was trembling from the cold or from me, I wanted to hear how she moaned my name. Not softly like she had last night, but aloud, desperate like she couldn’t breathe without it. Hell, she was still seventeen, I couldn’t because her father trusted me, and if I touched her, I will be messing everything up. I took out my phone and dialed Nora’s number. The phone rang twice before it finally connected. “Hey baby.” Nora said sweetly from the other side of the line. I squeezed my eyes shut, pressing the phone against my ears. “Where are you?” I asked, wishing I never asked. “I am with my mom. We are selecting a good venue for the wedding.” She said. “Is there a problem?” “No…” I shook my head, staring toward my window at the pouring rain. “Is it raining over there?” I asked, slowly walking toward the window. “Yes, luckily I came with a coat so I am warm.” I leaned against the window. “Great, you don’t feel cold at all, right?” I asked, I meant to ask if she was horny, like Riley had told me, she gets horny when it rains. “No, I am good. I also have a warm cup of coffee.” She answered and I nodded. “Okay, glad you are okay, just checking in.” I said before disconnecting the call. I rubbed my hand against my face and tossed the phone on the bed. “How do I get rid of the thoughts in my head now?” I stared at the door, scared to even leave my room, bumping into Riley with these burning desires could escalate things. I headed toward my closet to go change out of my wet outfit.
