Riley “Hey, what’s up?” Eve whispered and I blinked. “Huh?” “You aren’t eating, Riley. You keep staring into space like someone lost in her own world, what’s happening to you these few days?” Edwin asked, staring intently at me. “Do you regret not accepting Neil’s proposal?” Eve added and I rolled my eyes. “I don’t care about Neil’s proposal.” I’ve said this for the hundredth time. “You should Riley, every other girl is staring at him, but see, his eyes is still on you even after yelling at him this morning, why not give him a chance, a lot of girls have a boyfriend, and you haven’t even kissed anyone…” “Have you?” I asked Eve, curiously searching her eyes. She lowered it immediately. I blinked. “Eve, no way, you have actually kissed someone?” I questioned, leaning forward, curiously waiting for her answer, although it was clearly written on her face. “Who did you kiss?” Edwin who was as surprise as I was asked and Eve’s cheek turned crimson. “It’s just some guy…” She bit down her lower lips. “Is he from school?” I asked without hesitation, but she shook her head. “You kissed a random guy?” I snapped. “Shush…” She glanced around. “Someone might hear you…” I pressed down my lips but waited for her to continue. “He is from my neighborhood, I helped him feed a cat and he…” She shyly touched her lips. “Whoa, I am so happy for you, Eve…” “Happy for her my butt,” Edwin snapped and I blinked, turning to see his furrowed brows. “How can she let a random guy kiss her, what is he like? Did he ask you to be his girlfriend? Does he have eyes for only you or…” “You are taking this too far, Edwin, we just agreed to be friends, there is no big deal kissing someone.” Eve shrugged and Edwin scoffed. “Riley, I hope you don’t agree with her, Eve is taking the wrong path…” Edwin kept on talking but I lowered my gaze, picking at my food, if only he knew that I was already consumed in the wrong path, then he would be advising Eve not to follow my footstep, I was in love with someone I shouldn’t have feelings for. “It’s a sign that I am becoming a woman!” Eve’s word made my head shot up, I looked at her and she stared back. “Look at me closely Riley. Don’t you think I am glowing these days?” She raised the corner of her brows. I parted my lips and nodded. “You are…” I could see the glow. Edwin snapped his fingers at my face. “Snap out of it, Riley, she is still the same.” “Let me tell you a secret, Riley, you become matured when you have your first kiss, there is this sudden confidence that builds up in you, whereas, many girls have already kissed a boy or two, so it’s normal, if you give Neil a chance, you could end up feeling the way I feel too, I feel like I can conquer anything.” Edwin groaned when I nodded. “You’re both insane.” He grabbed his tray and walked out, leaving the both of us. I turned my gaze to Neil, his eyes met mine, there was a flash of emotion in it and a smile spread through my lips. “Should I give Neil a chance?” I muttered and Riley leaned forward and nodded, a smile spread through her lips. “Give him a chance and see where it leads, perhaps you could end up making all the girls in school jealous for having him as your boyfriend, or you could glow like I am right now.” I turned to Riley with a beam. No, I don’t want any of that. Perhaps I would use Neil to get to Carl… The last bell rang and I hurried down the hallway toward the parking lot, I didn’t want to miss the chance of running into Neil. I saw him heading to his car with his friend. “Neil!” I called out and he halted, he turned his gaze to me and quickly adjusted his shirt and hair. “Riley…” He rushed over to meet me. Damn, he is in love with me. This was how they should act when they have feelings for a girl, but Carl has none for me. “Um…” I smacked my lower lips. “Do you want to hang out with me?” I asked. He blinked. “Now?” he asked, his eyes dilating and I nodded, tucking the side of my hair behind my ear. “Yes, sure, I want to, I do!” He responded in excitement and I flashed him a smile. “My car is over there, let’s go, I will…” I held his hand and he almost flinched, I watched his face turned red, he stiffened and lowered his gaze to my hand and back to my face. “Riley…” He muttered, but I didn’t pull my hand away, I could hear students at the parking lot gasp. “Let’s go.” I told him and he led me to his car passenger seat and pushed the door open for me. “Neil, what about the game…” “Next time Max.” Neil brushed past him and I slide into the passenger seat. He carefully shut the door. I watched him beam, making a happy fist as he turned around the car to the driver’s seat. “Where do you want us to go?” He asked. I leaned back on the seat, fastening my seat belt. “Wherever,” I responded. “I know a good place.” He started the car engine and pulled out of the parking lot heading into traffic. “Music?” he asked me, I only gave him a nod and he turned on the radio. A slow romantic song was on, and Neil was grinning from ear to ear, but my thoughts were far from him. I turned my eyes to the window, staring out, I need to stay out late today, I need to make Carl worried, I need to make him think of me, call me, text me, I need anything that would make him turn his attention to me. I was going to be the girl he never stops thinking of.
