The small room rang with Eliah's words. Caine tried to keep his face perfectly motionless, despite the thrill of disbelief that went through him. “What are you talking about?" he asked, trying to sound confused. “My name is Edgar. Edgar Benner." Eliah just looked at him flatly, gray eyes shining in the light of the lantern. Caine's own eyes flicked back and forth. He could not decide whether it was safer to meet that dull gaze or not. At last, Eliah sighed, breaking the silence. Then, abruptly, he sat down on the dirty ground across from Caine.
