A howl went through Caine's soul, rising from the innermost depths of him. His senses blended together, a kaleidoscope of sound and sight and smells, blending into senseless stimuli. There was a flash of red-hot pain. Then there was nothing. No pain, no sights and sounds, no feeling at all. Caine opened his eyes. He was back again in the darkness.
