Caine put his head into his hands and closed his eyes. It made no difference to his surroundings. His entire world had been darkness and silence for so many long hours. Eliah had locked him back inside the room, still telling him nothing about what he had planned for him. There were no windows, not even a shred of light coming from beneath the door. Caine had not known that such a dark and dismal place could even exist. He had slept only fitfully – if dozing and reawakening, filled with panic from half-remembered dreams, could even be considered sleeping at all.
