Evie shouldn’t have come.
She knew that.
But she came anyway.
Because I was still here.
Still trapped.
Still pretending I was fine.
And Evie?
She had never been the type to watch someone she loved disappear without a fight.
Even if it meant putting herself in danger.
Even if it meant facing Jake.
Even if it meant risking everything.

She had snuck in.
Into Jake's territory.
Into his house.
