Chapter 7: The Conspiracy Unfolds
As the detective dug deeper, he discovered a trail of evidence that pointed to a shocking conspiracy. It seemed that Dr. Stone was just a pawn in a much larger game.
"Dr. Stone, I need to ask you some more questions," the detective said, his tone firm but controlled.
Dr. Stone looked up, his eyes tired and defeated. "What more do you want to know, detective? I've told you everything."
The detective leaned in closer. "I want to know about the hospital's administration. Who's been pushing for these dangerous procedures?"
Dr. Stone hesitated, then spoke in a barely audible whisper. "It's...it's Dr. Lee. He's been pushing for more aggressive treatments, despite the risks."
The detective's eyes narrowed. "Dr. Lee? I thought he was a respected member of the medical community."
Dr. Stone's eyes dropped. "He is, detective. But he's also ambitious. And he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants."
The detective's mind was racing. This was getting bigger by the minute. He needed to bring Dr. Lee in for questioning.
As he left the interrogation room, he ran into Elizabeth Harris in the hallway.
"Detective, what's going on?" she asked, her eyes curious.
The detective hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But something about Elizabeth's expression made him trust her.
"Dr. Stone is just the tip of the iceberg, Dr. Harris. There's a conspiracy going on here, and it goes all the way to the top."
Elizabeth's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
The detective lowered his voice. "Dr. Lee is behind this. He's been pushing for dangerous procedures, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants."
Elizabeth's face was pale. "We have to stop him, detective. We can't let him hurt anyone else."
The detective nodded. "I agree. But we need to be careful. Dr. Lee is powerful, and he won't go down without a fight."
As they spoke, Dr. Lee himself appeared in the hallway, a smug look on his face.
"Detective, I hear you're asking questions about me," he said, his voice dripping with condescension.
The detective stood tall, his eyes locked on Dr. Lee's. "I'm investigating a conspiracy, Dr. Lee. And you're at the center of it."
Dr. Lee sneered. "You'll never take me down, detective. I have too much power, too much influence."
The detective smiled grimly. "We'll see about that, Dr. Lee. We'll see about that.
