Chapter 2: The Death Doctor's Reputation
Dr. Stone couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched as he continued his rounds. The hospital staff whispered behind his back, and the patients eyed him with suspicion. The nickname "Death Doctor" seemed to follow him everywhere.
Elizabeth Harris, a senior doctor, called a meeting with the hospital administration. "We can't have him here," she urged. "He's a liability. He's going to kill again."
Fred Meyer, who had initially defended Dr. Stone, was starting to waver. "I don't know, Liz. Maybe we should give him a chance."
Nicole Watson, the young nurse, spoke up. "I've worked with Dr. Stone, and he's been nothing but professional. We shouldn't judge him based on his past."
But the administrator's expression was grim. "I'm afraid it's out of our hands. The board has already received complaints from patients and staff. We'll have to put him on probation."
Dr. Stone was summoned to the administrator's office, where he was handed a letter outlining the terms of his probation. He felt a surge of anger and frustration but knew he had to keep his cool if he wanted to regain the trust of his colleagues and patients.
As he left the office, he noticed a woman waiting for him in the hallway. She introduced herself as Sarah, the sister of the patient who had died earlier that day.
"You killed my brother," she accused, her eyes blazing with anger. "You're a monster, Dr. Stone."
Dr. Stone's heart sank. He knew he had to convince her that he wasn't responsible for her brother's death. But as he reached out to her, she pushed him away.
"Don't touch me! You're the last person I want near me."
The confrontation ended with Sarah storming off, leaving Dr. Stone feeling defeated and isolated. He realized that his past mistakes would haunt him for a long time to come.
Meanwhile, Detective Louis Paul was investigating the death of Sarah's brother. He had a hunch that Dr. Stone was involved, but he needed proof.
As he reviewed the medical records, he noticed something strange. Dr. Stone had administered a high dose of a controversial drug, one that had been linked to several deaths in the past.
The detective's eyes narrowed. This was getting interesting.
