Morning sunlight streamed gently through the curtains, casting a warm glow across Aylin’s bedroom. She stood before her mirror, smoothing the front of her cream blouse and adjusting the collar of her navy blazer.
Today was important.
Today was her second chance.
She exhaled slowly, studying her reflection. Though a hint of nervousness lingered in her eyes, determination shone brighter.
"You’ve got this," she whispered.
On her bed lay a neatly arranged folder containing copies of her résumé, certificates, and recommendation letters. She picked it up carefully, her fingers tightening around its edges.
A fresh start awaited her.
And she was ready.
The towering glass structure of Carrington Enterprises gleamed beneath the morning sun, reflecting the bustling city around it. Employees moved briskly in and out of the building, their purposeful strides a testament to the prestige of the company.
Aylin paused at the entrance, taking it all in.
"So this is it," she murmured softly.
With renewed resolve, she stepped inside.
The lobby was absolutely breathtaking—marble floors polished to perfection, sleek furnishings arranged with meticulous precision, and a grand chandelier hanging like a crown from the high ceiling.
The atmosphere exuded power, elegance, and opportunity.
"Good morning Miss," the receptionist greeted warmly. "How may I assist you?"
"I’m here for an interview," Aylin replied politely. "My name is Aylin Everett"
The receptionist smiled. "Welcome, Miss Everett. Please sign in. Someone will be with you shortly"
"Thank you"
Aylin took a seat in the waiting area, her heart beating steadily as she observed the professionals moving through the lobby.
She straightened her
posture, silently rehearsing her responses.
Stay calm. Stay confident.
After a few minutes, a tall man in a blue suit approached her.
"Miss Everett?" he asked.
She rose immediately. "Yes, that’s me"
"I’m Daniel Whitmore, Head of Marketing. Please follow me"
"Of course, sir"
He led her into a spacious office overlooking the city skyline. Sunlight streamed through the expansive windows, illuminating the modern décor.
"Please, have a seat," he said.
"Thank you"
As the interview began, Aylin answered each question with clarity and composure. She spoke about her academic achievements, her previous experience, and her approach to teamwork and problem-solving.
When asked about
leaving her former position, she responded with grace and professionalism.
"I chose to resign because I value integrity and a respectful work environment," she explained. "I believe that mutual respect is essential for productivity and growth"
Daniel studied her thoughtfully before nodding.
"That’s commendable, Miss Everett," he said. "Carrington Enterprises prides itself on professionalism. Your skills and values align well with our expectations"
Aylin felt a spark of hope.
He glanced down at her résumé once more, impressed.
"Your credentials are excellent, and your portfolio speaks for itself"
"Thank you, sir," she replied sincerely.
After a few final questions, he closed the folder and offered a polite smile.
"We’ll review your application and get back to you soon"
Aylin inclined her head. "I appreciate the opportunity. Thank you for your time"
"It was a pleasure meeting you, Miss Everett"
As she stood to leave, he added, "You made a strong impression"
Her lips curved into a grateful smile. "That means a lot. Thank you, sir"
Back in the lobby, Aylin stepped outside and inhaled deeply, the cool breeze brushing against her skin.
It was done.
Whether she got the job or not, she had given it her best.
Her phone buzzed in her hand.
Adele: How did it go?
Aylin smiled and typed her reply.
It went well. He said he’ll get back to me.
Her phone chimed almost instantly.
Adele: I told you! Start preparing your victory speech.
Aylin laughed softly as she slipped her phone into her bag.
For the first time in days, hope fluttered gently in her heart.
As she glanced once more at the towering building behind her, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her life was about to change.
She just didn’t know how—or because of whom.
