Driving down the dirt road towards the pack house, Isabelle ask, “What happened to that man’s eyes? They went cloudy for a few minutes and then went back to his natural eye color!”
Nicolas could tell she was excited and curious, so he didn’t keep her waiting long after chuckling at her antics, “He mind-linked his Alpha, to get approval to let us through the gates. You’ll learn after your first shift, which we need to figure out when that’ll be. When is your 18th birthday or has it already passed?”
”Umm... Okay! That’s a little crazy to be able to talk to others in your mind. Also, Starlight said I’ll shift on the next full moon after my birthday which is Sunday. I’ll be 18 then.” Isabelle replies calmly, since her wolf has already told her what will happen.
”Who is Starlight?” Nicolas asks a little panicky.
”She is my wolf! I met her the same day I met you, just a couple of hours earlier.”
”Right, okay! How do you still smell like a human though?”
”Starlight has been masking our scent to keep me safe. She said since I am unable to shift as of yet, it is safer to keep her hidden.” Isabelle shrugs her shoulders like it’s not as big of deal as Nicolas is making it out to be.
Nicolas starts grumbling and mumbling to himself, knowing he’s going to have to start his research on Isabelle’s first shift and her powers right away. He doesn’t believe her wolf has told her she is a Lycan, that’s the only possible scenario Nicolas can think of for her first shift to be on the first full moon after her 18th birthday. If so, he knows he’ll have to add it to his research list, but he doesn’t want to say anything to her until he has proof and is one hundred percent sure.
Pulling up in front of the pack house, he sees the Alpha waiting on them with his Beta and Gamma and their families. Turning to Isabelle he holds her hands, saying, “Remember you are a Queen and you will not let anyone mistreat you. I believe in you, but if you feel off at all we will leave immediately. All you have to do is tell me. I will protect you and keep you safe always, I promise.”
Isabelle looks into Nicolas’s eyes as he lifts her spirits with his comforting words and presses his forehead to hers sending her warmth and strength. Her panic from earlier has subsided with his help, along with the help of her wolf. She looks into eyes nervously nodding she is ready. He breaths a sigh of relief, letting her hands go and getting out of the Jeep to help her down.
The moment she is out of the Jeep and standing in front of the Alpha, they all hear three gasp and look over to see the triplets kneeling and bowing their heads while baring their necks to show their goddess given guardian tattoos and acknowledging their Queen, showing their submission and respect to her.
When Isabelle sees the guardian tattoos on all three triplets, she sucks in a sharp breath, putting her hand to her mouth and looks to Nicolas. Nicolas is stunned speechless and doesn’t understand how he can also see their tattoos. He looks at the Alpha, then back to triplets telling them to rise but they stay in position. Nicolas is perplexed and looks to Isabelle nodding his head for her to take control.
Isabelle is nervous, but speaks with confidence, “You may rise my guardians.”
As they do, they look forward and speak as one with the growl of their wolves, “My Queen, we take this oath, to always protect and serve you from this day forward. We will lay down our lives for you and will always keep you safe. We give you our loyalty and life.”
When they come out of their trance they look at each other and nod their heads knowing they all made the same choice when the Goddess came to them. Realizing everyone is either yelling or asking questions, they turn to the others letting Alexander take the lead since he is the eldest, “Alpha Hendricks, we should go inside to talk. This is of importance and for my Queens safety we don’t need others overhearing our conversation.”
Alpha Hendricks nods his acceptance, letting Alexander lead the way to the conference room. While he watches Arthur and Abraham step behind Nicolas and the young girl, as if in protection. Hendricks is perplexed and frustrated, not understanding why the boys would need to lay down their lives and give their loyalties to the young girl. She looks like the next gust of wind could blow her over and she smells of a human. Looking at his Luna he sighs knowing he will get answers soon enough, but to have the triplets publicly state their loyalties lie with someone else, angered his wolf for showing such disrespect to him as their Alpha and theirselves as the future gammas of this pack.
As they all gathered in the conference room, the triplets step up to Isabelle and Nicolas, introducing themselves one by one.
”My Queen, I am Alexander Rainier and I am the eldest of my brothers.” Alexander bows his head in respect.
”My Queen, I am Abraham Rainier and I am the second eldest of my brothers.” Abraham bows his head in respect.
”My Queen, I am Arthur Rainier and I am the youngest of my brothers.” Arthur bows his head in respect.
Isabelle smiles softly at them, saying, “Thank you, my guardians. You may call me Isabelle. I am no Queen as of right now, but I thank you for your loyalty and protection. Also, this is Nicolas, if you have not met yet and you can refer to him for my protection, but I believe we will not have any trouble while we are here.”
They all nod their heads and Nicolas gives Isabelle an approving look. He knows this must be hard for her, but he also knows she is doing an amazing job at handling herself and the situation. He looks at the triplets and motions for everyone to take a seat. Pulling out a seat for Isabelle, he lets her get comfortable while he stands behind her waiting to speak to the group.
”As you all heard, this is Isabelle.” He says pointing Isabelle out, “Now we can only say so much, before it jeopardize her safety. Yes, she will be a Queen in the near future and no one is to repeat it outside of this room. There are people who are after her and who will use her for their own gain. I will not let that happen. I was not told she would have more guardians, so they come as a surprise to me as well, but they do bear the Goddesses mark. They will need to complete the blood oath with me and Isabelle as soon as we are done here and will no longer be under the Red Moon Pack. I’m not sure how long we will be here, but I will be privately training and tutoring Isabelle in fighting, wolf history, and among other things that cannot be discussed here. The triplets will help me with that as well. Isabelle has...” Before Nicolas can finish speaking commotion and yelling starts again.
”What do you mean the triplets will no longer be under the Red Moon Pack? They are the future Gammas of this pack!” Their dad booms.
”You will not take my sons away from me, to protect some human!” Their mother screeches.
”Guys, what is he talking about? Why does she keep calling you her guardians?” Liam and Ethan say at the same time to the triplets.
”What does a human have to do with the Moon Goddess?” Luna Amelia demands.
”What do you mean she will be a Queen in the near future and for whom?” Beta Natalie questions.
”What if we refuse to let an unknown human stay for whatever reason you are speaking of?” Beta Oliver demands of Nicolas.
Alpha Hendricks watches everyone with a keen eye. He knew this day would come, but didn’t see it happening in his time. When he took over from his father, he had to renew the blood oath with Nicolas, just like his father had to do and his father before him. He was expecting the same to happen with Liam, but the time has come. He sits quietly waiting to see how Nicolas or Isabelle will handle taking charge. Since he is unable to say a word, less he break the alliance with Nicolas and the blood oath claims his life for breaking the oath.
