Chapter 8 ~ Isabelle ~

I hear a throat clear and look up to see Nic smiling at me, asking me, “Do you want the burger and fries to eat?” I nod, smiling back. ”What flavor do you want your shake? They have vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry.” ”Umm, strawberry sounds good. Thank you!” He repeats the order to our waitress, who I see is trying hard to get Nic’s attention. He’s not paying her any mind and avoids her attempts to put her hand on his shoulder. Dismissing her as he finishes giving her our order, I hear her huff and stomp away. Jeez, talk about being in denial. ”So, I wanted to talk to you a little about where we’re going. We will be stopped at the entrance to the lands, it’s protocol for any pack you enter as a security and safety measure. Visitors need clearance from the heads to come onto the land. The top three heads and their females will meet us in front of the pack house when we pull up. I’ll call them when we get closer for your safety. They won’t know who you are yet and I think it might be best to keep you on the down low until you are ready and trained. If we have to say anything, jeopardizing your safety or who you are, we need to keep it to a minimum. There are too many people who would use you for their own gain, if they found you. Do you ha...” Before he can finish and before I can say anything, our waitress shows up with our drinks. She’s tries again with Nic, asking him if there’s anything else she can get him or help him with. She’s completely ignoring the fact that I’m sitting right here, even though he hasn’t took his eyes off me once. Her attempts at seducing him take another nose dive off the cliff as he ignores her, only thanking her for our drinks. Can she not take a hint? I laugh at him, while he makes funny faces at me. Crossing his eyes and sticking his tongue out at me or making a fishy face and making little bubble noises. I can’t stop laughing. We decided to wait until we’re back in the Jeep to resume our discussion. Our waitress brings our food over, avoiding a third attempt at getting shut down. Sighing she leaves us to dig in. The food was amazing, he even had me dipping my fries into my shake. Which was the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted, salty and sweet combined. After we are done eating he pays and leaves a small tip, even though her service lacked in professionalism. We leave the diner and he helps me into the passenger side of the Jeep once again. Hopping into the drivers side seat, we hit the road finally on our way the Red Moon Pack. Just another three hours left. I figure now is a good time to ask my questions. ”My first question is: Would there possibly be anywhere we can clean up, before we meet up with the Red Moon Pack? I wouldn’t usually mind, but with all the running I did yesterday and not being able to take a shower to get all the dirt and sweat off me is starting to get uncomfortable. Plus, meeting new people who I don’t know yet like this doesn’t sit right with me.” I ask, before we get too far into our travels. He looks at me nodding and says, “Sure, we will stop at a motel closer to the pack and while your in the shower I can call and let Alpha Hendricks know we are coming.” ”Thank you so much! Okay, secondly who are all the important pack members names I need to remember?” Chuckling at me, he says, “There’s Alpha Hendricks and Luna Amelia, future Alpha Liam, Beta Oliver and female Beta Natalie, future Beta Ethan, Gamma Richard and female Gamma Haley, and the future triplet Gammas Alexander, Arthur, and Abraham.” ”Hmm... Okay! You said with every new Alpha they grow and thrive, but you didn’t say whether they are nice to outsiders and humans or if they treat the members of their pack right?” ”Well, from everything I have seen when visiting their pack, yes, they treat their members right. I’m not sure on how they are with outsiders and humans because there have never been any there at the times I was. We can play it by ear, since you still smell like a human and not anything supernatural. You’ll be an outsider to them as well and have a faint sent of rogue on you since you denounced your pack. All we can do is hope for the best and do the blood oath after we get settled there, for the extra protection. If anything happens, we can move onto our next destination.” ”Okay, sounds good. I’m just worried they will end up treating me the same way I have always been treated.” ”No, I will not let that happen and neither will you. Your strength is amazing, with all you have gone through, and your intelligence and ability to get through any obstacle in your way, is outstanding. We all have our demons, but how we deal with them instead of letting them control us is what sets us apart from others. You will be amazing and everyone will love you. Just remember you always have me, no matter what!” I smile softly at his declaration and compliments, even if I don’t fully believe them myself right now. I’m grateful for his advice and encouragement. I know without doubt, I am thankful to the Moon Goddess for sending him my way. His help and guidance has been more than I could ever hope for. Even if something were to happen and the other shoe did drop, I’d still be glad to have him in my life for however long I got him. Getting lost in my thoughts and not sure what else there is to ask, I watch the scenic view outside from my window. Keeping my guard up as we go into an unknown territory to me, seems the safest option. What did my teacher always say to the class... right, when dealing in politics it’s best to stay diplomatic. When we start to slow down, I set up and look at the time. Funny how fast time can pass when your not paying attention. Pulling up to a motel, Nic gets out and says he’ll be right back. I’m assuming to go pay for a room as he walks through a door that says office. Coming back out, he hops back into the Jeep and pulls up to what I’m assuming is our room, with the number seven on it. Getting out and going towards the back of the Jeep, he hands me a newer looking small duffel bag saying it’s a few outfits and essentials he packed for me. He grabs another small duffel bag and leads me to our room. Once inside the room, it seems like your typical motel room with two king size beds, a closet/sink area, and a bathroom with a toilet and tub/shower combo. Nic motions for me to head into the shower. I oblige, stepping into the bathroom closing the door. Grabbing the soap and shampoo I turn the water to warm, semi hot, then I undress and step under the spray. Letting it rinse as much dirt off of me as I can and repeatedly washing my body and hair until the water runs from brown and red to clear. The hot water helped ease my aches, even though I’m still sore, it felt great. Hopefully I didn’t take all the hot water and he won’t be too upset if I did. Drying off, I look to see what outfits he packed me. Going with a pair of skinny faded blue jeans and a silk grey top, I pair it with the white converses I found at the bottom of the bag. Thankful, he put a sports bra, a tank top, and a belt in there as well. With the way he has me eating I’m sure I will fill them out in no time. Grabbing the hair brush, hair ties, tooth brush, and tooth paste, I step out of the bathroom.
