The study room is cold and smells like old paper and I got here three minutes early which I am already regretting because now I have to sit here alone and think about last night and I have been doing nothing but think about last night since I woke up this morning and I am exhausted by it. I open my notebook and stare at it and don’t read a single word. The door opens. Cain. He doesn’t look at me when he comes in, just drops his bag on the table and pulls out his laptop and sits down, and I look at the line of his jaw and the column of his throat and I look back at my notebook.
