Chapter SevenRiding one of the Earl’s superb horses, Minerva thought that she had never been so happy.
For the last three days they had ridden every morning, David on a horse that he managed as skilfully as his elder brother would have done.
To Lucy’s delight the Earl’s Head Groom managed to produce, in some magical way, a pony.
He was fairly old and not very spirited, but as she rode on a leading rein accompanied by a groom, Minerva was not worried about her.
To Lucy it was a joy that she had never known before. Whenever she saw the Earl, she ran to throw her arms around him and perch on his knees and tell him how kind he was.
Minerva was astonished by his kindness.
It was something she had never expected and certainly something that Tony had not prepared her for.
