“Buenos Dias, Senyorito!” Bridget squeled excitedly.
“It’s so early. I want to sleep.” Andrew groaned as he fluttered his eyes open. Morning sun peered through the windows in his room as his maid pulled heavy maroon curtains aside. He blinked a few times and stretched on his bed. Pushing himself up, he leaned on the headboard trying to rid of sleep.
Senior year, here I come! Andrew chuckled groggily.
“Que quieres para desayunar, Andrew?” Andrew realized Bridget was saying something in Spanish which he hated the most.
What’s wrong with people trying to interrupt my sleeping? Bridget started but was cut off rudely by agitated and dismissive wave of Andrew’s delicate hands.
Stop it, Andrew. It’s too early in the morning for me to put up with my mother’s nonsense. He knew that he was being rude, but his mother’s conceited ideas annoyed him indefinitely. He was never around and he had to put up with her obnoxious crap.
Bridget just gave him a small apologetic smile. Now he felt even worse, after all Bridget had no option but to follow his mother’s orders.
“I am deeply sorry for being cranky, you know how I am in the morning.” Andrew sighed almost emphatically. He ran his fingers through his slightly ruffled morning hair. “What did you ask me earlier?” He said as he let out a low groaned.
“I asked you if you would like some coffee or some camomile tea.” Bridget repeated.
While suppressing a groan of frustration at his maid, Andrew decided not to start the day with negativity and just go with his mother’s wishes. Little did he know that his day will get screwed up anyway?
“Some coffee would be good.” He said finally with a smile. He felt that was the only type of smile he gave to people. His days became series of pretended politeness and faux smiles.
In a way, Andrew understood why his mother insisted on his speaking Spanish. Both of his parents were Spaniards and moved to New York when he was young. Andrew was their only child and considering that he came from the opulent family. As the result, he was proficient in Spanish as well as English.
He was always the smarty pants, the first to raise his hands in class, the one who got straight as a member of few clubs, the President of student council. To cut the story short, the ace among students. That was probably the reason why other kids never warmed up to him. However, they respected him, he taught them how to that one may say unconventional ways.
Andrew took out his uniform which neatly hung in his closet. Sadly, he didn’t get to wear any of his designed clothes most of the days since he went to Saint Helen’s Academy, which was a university and students were required to wear proper uniforms.
He wears his knee long dark blue shirt, white polo, and dark blue blazer and finally he fastened fashionable dark blue tie around his neck. The uniform suit him very well. He decided to use the perfume his father bought for him from New Zealand.
He grabbed his school bag and went downstairs to the kitchen to quickly grab something to eat. Bridget already prepared breakfast for him, an aromatic smell of warm toast, eggs and coffee greeted him. He sipped on his coffee while checking the latest news on the laptop. He liked to be informed about important world events.
He finished his breakfast, and got out of luxurious penthouse. Since he was in high school, he lived with his parents but since they never were home, it was as if he lived by himself. His mother was attending errands, and preparing new editions for his newly launched magazines, and his father was a successful business man so he often absent for business trips.
“Good morning!” He greeted his driver Antony as he opened the limousine for him to get in. He got comfortable on the backseat and plugged in his earphones. He turned up the volume and close his eyes focusing on the music. He preferred reggae songs not to mention the classical ones. There was something so much more sophisticated and honest about it than the horrendous music that people listened to as of this generation.
After a few minute ride, he arrived at school. He was on time as usual. Punctuality was one of virtues Harriet Family instilled in him since young age. He had fifteen minutes before his class starts, he decided to leave some stuff in his locker. He saw Dave, Kyle, and Alec his so-called friends or minions as he called in his head, waiting for him by his locker.
“Good morning, Andrew!” They all screeched, obviously faking excitement. Alec handed him a coffee.
“One sugar or one milk?” Andrew asked him arching his eyebrow. There was no need for pleasantries, he inferred mentally.
“Of course Drew, just the way you like it.” Alec smiled at him. Despite his smile, discomfort was written in his face but would never dare to show it any way.
“What did I tell you about calling me Drew?” Andrew frowned at him with a hand on his hips.
“I am sorry, Andrew.” He said, smile wiped off his face, looking nervously at Andrew.
“Come on, let’s go to class.” Alec commanded them knowing that they will follow him instantly.
Everyone moved out of their way as they marched down the hallway. People looked at Andrew only if they were sure he wouldn’t notice them by him. Most of them couldn’t help themselves but stare at the most handsome Ice King of their school. If any person was asked what his prominent feature was, they would most likely say his eyes – his piercing green eyes that made everyone stop in their tracks if looked upon by them. Andrew was quite popular among boys and girls.
But people also aware that usually it wasn’t a good thing if that green gaze fell upon them, because that meant they got on his nerves somehow and should expect retaliation.
He sat down at the front row with Kyle, while Alec and Dave sat behind them. First period was Mathematics which is the only subject that he really dislikes, but since he is Harriet he had to excel in it. With the help of tutors and a lot of studying, he had got high grades as well as in other classes.
When he was walking out of the classroom after the class, someone sneaked their arms around him from the back. He immediately tensed at the touch but when he saw his feminine voice in his ear relaxes him.
Isabelle turned him around and gave him a long passionate kiss. Andrew and Isabelle had been in a relationship two years from now. She was from a wealthy family of preppy lawyers, and her family often donated a money for school. She was best looking girl in the school.
Her dark hair was fell off on her shoulder. She had dark brown eyes, cute dimple on her cheeks, and a million dollar smile. Boys would swoon of her openly but they were afraid of Andrew and so they refrained from doing such actions, at least in his proximity.
“Good morning.” She said to him after a kiss.
“Morning.” Andrew replied. He didn’t love her and he didn’t think she loved him either, but they were the most popular students at the school, it was the only logical thing for them to be in a relationship. They also looked really good together and their parents approved of their relationship, not that Andrew sought their approval or anything.
“I missed you very much, dear. How was your summer?” Isabelle asked him as she plays with her fingers.
“It was fine, I reconnected myself with my Spanish self.” Andrew smiling politely. He spent his entire summer in France at his grand-parents’ residence. He had to admit that it was a relaxing vacation, spent visiting museums, going to classical concerts, watching movies and even having shopping sprees.
“What about you? What have you been up to?” He asked her.
“Well, you know me and my family, we spent most of our time in our beach in Hunolulu, Hawaii. I hung out with some friends and my cousins came for a visit. But I missed my boyfriend a lot.” She said charmingly.
“I bet you did.” He thought to himself. Without revealing his thoughts, he just faked smile and told her that he missed her, too.
She gave him peck on lips and walked him to the next class. His friends, or better said minions trailed close behind them.
The day went by slowly, with everyone from her popular group greeting him, sucking up, and asking him repeatedly about his summer. He replied courtly to everyone, but he didn’t share a lot of personal information with them. He never liked people prying in his personal life, and caused him to tense up. He could already feel his mood darkening.
That was pretty much it for wishing a day without negativity. He thought darkly, resisting the urge to run his fingers through his hair.
Few classes and boring conversations later, he walked towards cafeteria for lunch break with his “followers”. To his great dismay, he noticed the only person that absolutely didn’t want to see today approaching them. As if his mood wasn’t already ruined by constant questions from annoying people that were sucking up to him, he had to run into him.
Deep frowned settled on his face as the bloke approached him and smiled from ear to ear, revealing a set of perfectly white teeth. Andrew hated his handsomeness, his smug smile, his friendliness. Andrew hated him with all his being.
