864 Words
Miranda's POV: I guess I don't need anyone to tell me my time in this company is over right, I finally lost my job. I brace up myself for whatever comes afterwards, I will beg him and if he doesn't listen, then I will have no choice but to accept whatever offer the Mario club gives, atleast that will save me another stress of a paying a lifetime debt. But then, can I really give out my virginity for sale? Just like that? I swiftly cleared my head of the distraction. I push back my chair and stand up, exiting my office, heading swiftly to my boss's office. I reach for the door and knock softly, I could feel my heartbeat throbbing in my ears. "Come in." He said His figure, sitting at the edge of his table comes to view scrolling through his phone. "I'm here sir." I tell him making him look at me. He hoists his head up, his gaze sliced through me and concentrate back on his phone. "Do I need to call you before you give me the report about The Walls Lead proposal I asked about yesterday?" He said, still pressing his phone. I'm silently scolding myself, struggle to swallow the knot in my throat. I'm so scared to come to his office just because of the drama I had created earlier. I couldn't even look straight to his eyes, I'm damn scared. "The managing director promise to get back to me before the end of work today sir." I reply, my fingers tremble nervously, my palms are sweaty. "And I don't deserve to get the response earlier before now?" He said sharply. "I'm trying not to bore you with incomplete feedback sir, that's why I'm waiting for his reply later today sir." "Okay." He said, but doesn't sound convincing. I lied! I have not checked my mail since last night I left the office, I'm sure the feedback will be there already. Silent creeps in the walls of his office, he's not saying anything again. This is killing! My heart begins to pound harder than before, entangling my shaky fingers together with my head bow. Really? Is he not going to say anything again? Can he just tell me to leave? I shiver in fear, giving a simple bow, my legs move in a jerry motion, trying to excuse myself . "What's that drama this morning all about?" He said, interrupting my steps. I froze, my heart pounding in my chest. What do I say? How do I explain that those guys were here to collect their money—such a huge debt inherited from my parents. How is that going to sound? I need to come up with a lie. Just before I open my mouth, he interrupted by his words. "You don't have any explanation as to why those miscreants were in my company very early in the morning constituting nuisance!?" He yelled loudly, leaving the edge of his table where he has been standing—flop on his seat, turning his blazing red eyes towards me. "I need to pay them some amount of money urgently, that's why they showed up in my work place " I said hurriedly, my heart panting. Wait, did I just tell him truth? Well, not totally the truth. "You?" He scoff. How much are you owning them that made them to show up in my company? At this point, I just decide to spill out everything, who knows, my boss might be of help, but I doubt it. "My parents borrowed some amount of money from their club but they couldn't pay it all before they died." My eyes are teary, I'm holding tight the tears from flowing. Silence falls as his eyebrows shot up in surprise, he leaned back to his chair just to break the silence with his next statement. "I'm willing to pay off the debt", his voice spread through the air softly. Time seemed to stand still as I froze. Did he just say that he is willing to pay off the debt? Or am I day dreaming? "I said I will pay off the debt", he repeat tapping his finger on his table. His gaze locked unto mine, and I quickly avert my eyes, entangling my shaky hand. "But on one condition" I knew it! How on earth was I expecting anyone to help me willingly for free? They all want one thing or another. A condition? What condition again? I ask within as a frowns touches my lips. Life suck! "Be my wife" He said leaning forward from his chair, folding his hand together. Silence falls. My brows furrowed in confusion. "I'm willing to give you $100,000, if you agree to be my wife but it's going to be just for 8months" "What!?" My brows are still furrowed in confusion and I can't help but voice out my thoughts. "I don't seem to understand you sir." I ask "It's going to be a contract marriage with no string attached just for 8months, 50% of the payment at the beginning of the contract and you get the rest after we divorce" "Like, what!?"
