Sophie heard, that hurriedly dried her eyes with her hands. “What do you want”? She asked calmly as she turned around to glare at Catherine. “Don't I have the right to be here”? She asked. “You do not. You're not welcome here and this house does not belong to you”. Sophie replied. Catherine revealed a scowl on her face as she heard that. “You have no right to talk to me like that”. She said, “You didn't like to hear that right”? Sophie asked with a smirk on her lips. “Well, you should accept that because it's the truth. I am the lady of the house and this house belongs to me, and in other words, you are not welcome here”. “And what are you going to do about it? Catherine asked. “Despite how beautiful you think you are, I am the person he loves, not you. Regardless of what you do or say, he is never going to love you and he will treat me as more important than you are”. Sophie stared at her, her gaze unwavering. She told herself in her mind that she was not going to let the venom in Catherine's words faze her in the slightest or push her to act irrationally. “Despite what you just said, I am the one he married, I own this place and despite whatever he does with you, I am the one he would come back to at the end of the day. He might see you as someone he got just for s****l pleasures so I see no reason for you to brag”. Sophie said nonchalantly. Catherine's face twisted in anger as she heard that. “You think you're so superior simply because he married you and not me huh? He only married you because his mother wanted him to marry you. Left for him, he would've married me and not you”. Hearing that, Sophie raised her eyebrow in surprise. “You knew him before he married me”? She asked. “Of course I did”. Catherine replied smugly. “He was going to marry me and then you reared your ugly head and ruined everything. “Didn't his mother know about you”? Sophie asked. “Why didn't she let you marry him”. “His mother is an annoying old b***h that has no idea what is good for her son so she was against me marrying him for some weird reason”. She spat. “Well, she made the right decision”. Sophie replied with a smirk. “What did you say”?! Catherine shouted. “Repeat that”. “I said she made the right choice. I mean, look at you, you are a mistress with absolutely no shame and you also have a very foul mouth so what mother will have someone like you for a daughter-in-law”? “How dare you talk to me like that”?! Catherine said in annoyance as she advanced towards her. “Get any closer and I am using this knife on you”. Sophie said, pointing a kitchen knife towards Catherine which prompted her to stop while gritting her teeth. “You are nothing but a placeholder, a stepping stone for someone better and do you know who is better? Me”. Catherine said. “Say what you want to say, I do not care”. Sophie replied. “I am his wife and by law, I have a right to be here, and you? You have no power here”. She said before dropping the knife on the rack and walking out of the kitchen. “I am going to tell you all you've said to Alexander”. Catherine said before rushing past her and up the stairs to look for him. “Go cry to him like a baby”. Sophie said nonchalantly before climbing up the stairs. On getting to the top of the stairs, she realized that she had left her phone in the kitchen so she turned around to go back only to feel a strong force hit her on her back, causing her to fall and roll down the stairs. While rolling, she tried to stop herself from rolling down the stairs but to no avail. Eventually, she got to the last stair and lay down there in pain and exhaustion. Catherine, seeing that Sophie was not getting up, panicked and thought that she had killed her so she ran down the stairs and threw herself to the ground beside Sophie and lay there without moving. A couple of minutes later, Sophie despite being aware of who was responsible for her being pushed, tried standing up quietly without making a fuss and it was at that point that Alexander walked in. “What is going on here”? He asked with a frown. Catherine, seeing that he had come in, stood up immediately. “This evil wife of yours is trying to kill me”. Catherine replied. “What do you mean by that”? Alexander asked with a frown. “I mean it the same way you heard it”. Catherine replied. “This b***h tried to kill me by pushing me off the stairs”. Alexander turned to stare at Sophie who was still trying to stand with the bruises on her. “ What do you have to say for yourself”? He asked. “I did not push Catherine at all”. She replied calmly. “Rather, she pushed me down the stairs”. “You are lying, you deceiving b***h,” Catherine said. “To think you will even go so low and do something so despicable,” Alexander said before shaking his head. “This just makes me sure of what I had decided to do”. He said “And what is that”? Sophie asked with a raised eyebrow. “I want to end this marriage”. He said, producing divorce papers. “Are you serious about this”? Sophie asked. “I am serious”. Alexander replied. “Okay then”. Sophie said before snatching the papers and walking towards her room. On getting there, she went through the papers and saw that he was serious. “I will make sure he regrets this”. She said coldly before signing it. Later, she picked up her phone and dialed her mother's number. “Hello, mum”. She said into the phone. “I am coming back home”.
